Brilliant atmosphere, Frank and Sue are lovely, and the regular patrons are friendly. Good selection of beverages with a constantly rotating ale selection and occasionally an ale brewed on site. It's just a pub so there is no food, but ordering takeaway to the pub is fine as long as you let them know. There's also a decent selection of bar snacks and some excellent locally made pork scratchings. Definitely pop in if you're passing through town or living here.
I arrived intending only to have a pint.nnAn initial look at the CMAT App. it looked as if the place was on the Cask Marque Ale Trail and on arriving this weekday, just as it opened, my hostess also assured me they were.nnBut they weren't!nnThe little black pump on the App had disappeared and there was no certificate to scan. Even so, none of the Real Ale pumps had been pulled through, so I declined to drink overnight ale that had festered in the pipes.nnThe non alcoholic Adnams Ghost Ship 0%abv was quite decent, thoughnnI can recommend that anyway.
Does not do food, but the beer is wide ranging and well kept
Such a lovely pub. The owners are wonderful and enjoying to talk to. It's a great place to unwind and have conversations where you can actually hear what people are saying
Nice range of ales. Friendly clientele.
