"Sometimes there is nothing better than popping to the village pub to relax, unwind and be yourself, which is exactly what you can do here. We are located in the pretty village of Ingatestone in the High Street next to the church.This lovely pub has oodles of history and some say its even haunted although we personally have no evidence of that!!. You will find a welcoming atmosphere with a roaring log fire on chilly days, candle lit tables in the evenings which is complimented by contemporary service. The food is amazing with some reworked English classics with creative and tasty touches."

Excellent food. Recommend the fish, chips and peas - a very good size quality fish. When arriving allow time for parking as unfortunately there ISN'T A CAR PARK. There's a small car park up the road opposite but its often full. Parking in bays on the main road are 1 hour max and up side roads are 2 hour max. Despite the parking difficulties it's worth visiting for great food and service. Vegetarian options: There was a vegetaria curry on the menue
The word is spreading. Four school chums of a certain age, one from as far afield as Surrey, joined me for a great weekend-launching long lunch today. Jamal, Beth and Karen in the kitchen well up to their excellent, reliable best. The gnocchi topped with poached egg was as delicious as Jamal described, my cod was luscious. The skate wing arancini was lovely. Here's to my next week of dog-minding, bringing me within walking distance of the Star Inn! Vegetarian options: At least one, for each course. Wheelchair accessibility: Via the rear entrance. Tiny pavement has an unavoidable step.
Birthday lunch today - 3 close family birthdays over last 3 days - for 9 of us. Food quantity and quality excellent, service truly wonderful, atmosphere great. All at a very very reasonable price. We - the close family at least - will certainly be back often.

Best roast dinner around. The food was amazing and a really good selection of delicious wines. Service was brilliant, staff all friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit.
Had not been to The Star Inn before but visited last week with my husband and was extremely impressed. Was very clean, a great atmosphere, a fantastic gin menu for me, an extensive wine list for hubby, varied menu for all tastes and the food was amazing - quite possibly the best fish I have ever eaten! We will be coming back very soon.
I love this pub, i've been a few times now, the last time for sunday dinner, it one of the best roast dinners at a pub ive ever had, great staff, food and atmosphere.
Celebrated our 20th anniversary, with some special people. We had the cake made by the star, which was amazing. My wife's cousin is a butler at the fishmongers guild, to see him order the seafood and really enjoy it was wonderful. Thanks Star

We went to The Star Inn for the first time today as it was recommended by my new dentist. We planned to go there for one drink but we loved the atmosphere so much we ended up staying for a roast and dessert. This is a pub that is the owners pride and joy. The consideration of the decor and ambiance is clear to see from the moment you are greeted on entry. It’s the best roast we’ve ever had, the cookery showed so much skill, could not find fault with anything and the staff were so attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for such a wonderful day.
