Amazing night, we scoffed down 3 courses each, the menu was great for both of us (one meat eater one vegan) excellent variety for both of us and the atmosphere was great! Now on first name terms with the staff... Tyler made us feel at right at home and we had such a laugh chatting with him throughout the night and the chef Nick came over to make sure our meals were perfect... Brilliant food! We will be back next week!

Great food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Good selection of meals for meat eaters and vegans alike. I'll definitely be eating there again. On a side note: The Stag was recently taken over by new management and have a new head chef, and I can say the quality all round has improved drastically. If you've been here in the past and have been disappointed, definitely give it another try.

Great that you have a vegan menu (hard to come by in the area), and the food is really tasty, and the service good. One request - as not all beer, wines and spirits are suitable for vegans, it would be great if you could extend that support by providing a list/menu of alcohol that are suitable....in the least if staff could be educated on the matter it would help a lot! When choosing my drink I had to google what I could have...thanks!

Owned by the same proprietor as 'Bar Chocolate' this establishment offers the promise of more, yet delivers far, far less. The investment in this business is skin deep. Once you have moved past the relatively acceptable stylings of the interior you will find little else of substance. The selection of ales is frequently poor. A glance at the “coming soon” rack shows a pitiful selection to get excited enough about to warrant a return. The ale itself is often left on too long and spoils, although that certainly doesn't stop the staff from serving a sub-standard libation. What can be said of the food is that the quality changes as often as I change my socks. It is apparent that they go through kitchen staff on a regular basis, that I am aware of this imparts no great confidence in the quality of the food on offer. The menu itself is unexciting and dry. In the summer The Stag plays host to swarms of flies, encouraged by a strange smell emanating from behind the bar. A drainage issue perhaps? Well it is enough to make one leave, flies buzzing overhead as if some great carcass has been dropped by your feet. I'm afraid this is a pub that isn't trying hard enough and truly fails on some of the basics.

Friendly athmosphere and staff, good place for a drink, afternoon tea or food (lunch or dinner) as well.
