Very disappointed Not very busy as we booked mid afternoon. After waiting at our table for 40 minutes are food arrived and looked very appetising. We did receive a check back after 10 minutes not 3 minutes as normal. My wife was struggling to cut into her Roast Beef so replied to the waiter that everything was fine. She doesn't like complaining and really tried her best to enjoy her meal. As you can see from the photo I took, she was not successful cutting the Beef. It was more like leather and nothing like we were expecting. When the waiter collected our plates we informed him of the problem. He queried why we didn't mention this at his check back but explained my wife really wanted to eat her meal with me, her husband. We were told they will take this up with their supplier and offered us our bill. We paid in full and left very disappointed. We won't be going back after that experience. Maybe it was a one off but they made my wife feel guilty for complaining. A real shame as it looks lovely after the refurbishment
Excellent service from friendly staff. The food was delicious. My wife had steak ciabatta with fries you get plenty. I had pulled venison and root veg pie off the specials menu, this should be on the daily menu as it was excellent. I would come back just for that!
Visited on a Thursday night and ate off the two or three course reasonably priced menu. Pate starter was lovely and a good size portion. Main course was steak and ale pie and mash which tasted good and was a good size pie. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was a nice end to the meal. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff too
16/07/22. First visit under the new owners. Was a little wary as we loved the old place so much. We heard they had renovated so, as we thought the old decor was beautiful, we didn't know what to expect. We needn't have been concerned as the new decor is still as beautiful. It has been opened up a little more which makes it seem more airy. Our favourite server, Liam, is still there so we knew we were in safe hands. I had the superfood salad with roasted chilli squash . It was delicious. Others had chicken and steak burgers and scampi and chips. All mains were great. Desserts are just yummy. And a good idea for a small portion with a coffee. I had the small mocha tart and a coffee. We all enjoyed it and still be back very soon. 08/01/22. Lovely lunch today but sad as it will be the last time with Lesley and Stuart as the owners. Food and service to the usual high standard. It's always been a pleasure. We've celebrated some wonderful family occasions with you. All the luck for the future and thank you so much from the 6 of us. First time back for 18 months. Place looks amazing. Staff as brilliant as ever and the food delicious. Can't wait for next time.
Really disappointed!! Last time we went pre covid was excellent. Unfortunately the upgrades to the establishment including an awesome outdoor area have not translated through to the kitchen. Had slow cooked beef rib roast dinner and although the meat was OK the rest of the dish was diabolical. Don't think I saw a single person eat the Yorkshire pud. Only got 3 stars because of the staff who were fantastic and standard of decor, toilet etc. Historically one of the best places around Mellor to eat but after Sunday I might as well gone to the carvery at Gamecock Great Harwood. Would have been a lot cheaper and pretty much same quality of food. Come on guys the Spread is better than this.
First visit and definitely won't be our last ! Met at reception by a lovely front of house lady and Liam - both polite friendly and professional, drinks on the terrace pre Sunday lunch , exceptional views followed by a delicious lunch and dessert- thank you Spread eagle to all of the team
Brilliant, modern, contemporary, ultra stylish building, felt like a new building and car park. Unparalleled views and scenery. Excellent food with, great staff. Not much else you could look for. It does get very busy, booking is almost essential. Highly recommended.
A family group of 8 of us had brunch at the Spreadeagle. The menu was varied and the food excellent. The staff were welcoming and helpful. In addition, facilities for the disabled member of the group were excellent with easy access to the table and disabled toilet
Great food and service. Will be coming again.
Lovely views. Good food. Friendly staff
