Excellent ride. The very first drop and curve straight out of the gate gives a hint to the experience awaiting. Seems like a short ride when it initially slows, until you see HALFWAY written on the walls! Someone fainted in the car in front, as the loops and curves are constant. Recommend.
Incredible ride. Fast, thrilling, non-stop action. I would say it's even better than Nemesis. My only warning is I did feel a bit sick after riding, it didn't bother me but it might bother others. Even so, I HIGHLY recommend this rollercoaster! Top tip: Use the single rider queue. You may get separated from friends while riding, but it shortened what would've been a 20-30 minute queue to a 2 minute queue for me.
You can’t beat The Smiler! Was so hesitant to ride this after what happened but tried it for the first time this year and loved every second. The vertical lift hill is very scary but in a fun way - you kind of feel like you’re falling backwards and your bum leaves the seat. You lose track of how many times you’re upside down but the first barrel roll out of the station was the best surprise! It’s also well worth using the single rider queue the only one in the park as I just walked right on.
This is a very intense but fun ride. There is a lot of loops and corkscrews in a short amount of time. It's definitely not for the faint hearted. Gets very long ques so best to do first thing in the morning.
To be honest I am not a huge fan of Gerstlauer's creations, but this recordbreaking rollercoaster is definitely their best. With a whopping 14 inversions, this ride really is totally crazy. Just when you think it is over, then comes another inversion, ... and another, ... and another, ... The theme is equally crazy with some creepy footage of experiments that make people laugh all the time. Also the theme song is great. This rollercoaster is definitely iconic.
One word. Mental. 14 inversions in a row. 2 gut-punching airtime hills. And the world’s most twisted, screwed up theme for a roller coaster. This ride is amazing, but it doesn’t compare to Nemesis. Though Smiler beats Nemesis in basically everything stat-wise, it’s held back by the roughness which is felt anywhere except the front row. Additionally, queue times are usually among the highest in the park, with the long queue not helped by the psychotic laughing music and cramped nature of the queue line. Fortunately, these can be avoided by using the single rider line. Once, the main queue showed “150 minutes” and I got on in around 30-45. Other than that, this ride provides outstanding hang time and air time. JOIN US. YOU BELONG TO THE SMILER.
went twice in 1 day, 5 minute queues each time. 100% worth it if you go, a record breaking coaster with a bit of bad history that is lots of fun to ride. it has lots of loops and inversions. overall 15/10 would ride again
Best ride in the entire UK in my opinion, absolutely world class engineering with a world class record. The accident has put a bit of a bad reputation on it but accidents can happen on everything in the world and it is much safer than you could ever imagine. Definitely worth trying for the satisfaction or sensational feeling of the coaster. Absolutely outstanding !!
Just been on the smiler for the first time ! Wow .. what an experience, i felt like i was on another planet for a good hour afterwards! Very well engineered and the theme of it really brings the anticipation. Only gave a 4 star because of the queue time.
Best roller coaster in the park by far. It features 14 inversions and holds the world record for most inversions on a roller coaster. Max speed 52mph. Theming around the ride is good with a very creepy feel. Absolutely fantastic.
