It's not hard to see why the Ship Inn wins awards. This place is excellent. My wife & I were greeted warmly the second we arrived and that friendly and professional approach was mirrored in all of the staff we met. Our room was superb, clean, bright and very well appointed. The quality of finish reflects the high standards evident throughout this hotel. Our meal in the restaurant was top drawer. The service was amazing, the restaurant itself warm and inviting. Our food, from starter through main course, desert and cheese board was some of the finest we have eaten in some time. The ingredients were all fresh, beautifully cooked and extremely well presented. Our breakfast this morning was plentiful and enjoyable The Ship Inn is very well worth a visit and despite the high quality and outstanding service is very reasonably priced and represents excellent value for money. We cannot wait to return.
I stayed here for a long business trip, and the experience was excellent. The rooms are very well laid out, and cosy in the winter temperature control to your preference. The team accommodated any reasonable requests, always doing their best to help. The attached restaurant is perfect for breakfast and dinner. High quality food, great selection for small and large appetites, and friendly service. The surrounding area is breathtaking, with hills, woods and field walks just minutes away in every direction.
Very nice rooms with large well fitted bathrooms and a spacious comfortable king sized bed made for a good rest and an enjoyable stay. The food was served quickly and was made with high quality ingredients that came though in the taste. Very good looking bar and enjoyable to sit and drink by the fireplace. Eggs royal for breakfast rounded out the stay.
Lovely lunch at the Ship Inn. Two courses for four people,all guests very happy with their choices. Dining area is well laid out with a small seating area off to the side at the bar. Should be noted that the ship inn is dog friendly as well as operates limited meal times.Service: 5/5
I chose this as a stopover on a long trip and was very glad I did. I travel with my dog and this is a properly dog-friendly hotel. The staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Very comfortable bed. In beautiful historical Gatehouse of Fleet.
Didn't stay but rather had a dining room meal on recommendation. Food superb, staff very pleasant and helpful. Dining room clean, tidy and well docorated. All on all a first class dining experienceService: 5/5

Outstanding accommodation, peaceful, picturesque and oh so practical being in the centre of so many choices for beautiful walks and interesting Galloway landscape. Will certainly call again, food was excellent with wide choice on well priced menu, something for everyone here!
Wonderful place to stay. Really nice staff and the room was lovely. Food was really nice as well. Not a lot of tourist attractions open as it was February but that was fine as we went for walking. We plan on returning in the summer to try the area again when more is openRooms: 5/5
We recently stayed for 1 night whilst attending a family event in the village. The room was lovely and clean, service was excellent by all staff. Breakfast was lovely and filling. Would recommend to anyone who need to stay in the village and will booked again when we need to.Rooms: 5/5
