My husband and I stayed here in July 2024 for 4 nights and loved every minute! The location couldn't be better as it's within walking distance of all the major attractions in London. Our room was wonderful with just the right amount of practical needs mixed with English style. The front desk staff were great and easy to work with from check in to check out and sharing with us information about the area. We also went to the pub downstairs a couple of times for breakfast, which was GREAT!!, dinner, and drinks! We would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone else.
We had the best stay at this great little hotel within a 5 minute walk to Westminster. The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous. A great selection at the buffet plus a cooked full English every morning which set us up for the day. The nearest tube station is 3 minutes walk away and the rooms were very comfortable with everything provided. The fridge was a very useful addition and rooms were serviced daily. We loved the sanctuary house and can't wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful stay
PERFECT little hotel in the heart of Westminster. A short 3 minute walk to the St. James Park tube and opposite direction a one minute walk to Westminster Abbey. Location5/5. Service, rooms spotlessly clean, well fitted with a small in-room fridge and plenty of coffee making supplies. Beds comfy. The breakfast in the downstairs pub was always hot and delicious. The staff super friendly and always had a smile. Even when I totally botched the reservation, the hotel went out of their way to accommodate the needs of my small, 3 room group. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay at a great little hotel within walking distance of so many of London’s top spots. Loved it! 10/10 Rooms: We had three different room types and all three were excellent. Nearby activities: All the major sights for London are either walkable or a tube/bus ride away. Safety: Absolutely a safe and good neighborhood. Walkability: Transportation from St James Park tube to the hotel, very easy. All the major sights such as Buckingham Palace. Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and so much more easily accessible. Food & drinks: Breakfast and dinners were excellent. Our party of 6 adults sampled just about everything and all was good. Noteworthy details: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the river Thames, the London Eye all easily within walking distance. Hotel was comfortable, clean, well appointed. Rooms were well decorated, good air con, clean and comfy.
Fantastic stay whilst visiting London. The hotel is lovely, clean, with good facilities and is in an absolutely fantastic location. The staff were really helpful and the breakfast was great. No noise what so ever from the pub downstairs. Would also recommend a pie from the pub for an evening meal! Would 100% stay again.
Absolutely 5 and more!! We had a wonderful evening at the Sanctuary House Pub last night, perfectly capped off by the England Euros Quarterfinal win! The staff were fantastic…welcoming, friendly, attentive, and kind. The pub was super clean as were the restrooms. I had made a reservation earlier in the week to be sure we had a table for the game and for my visiting sister to get to experience the match and pub atmosphere. The Sanctuary House did not disappoint on either. The food was all superb! I can’t recommend the Chicken, Bacon, Leek Pie enough!! The Fish & Chips and the Fish Pie were also given top ratings by my husband and sister. The beers were perfect and we had a wonderful evening. We haven’t been to a Fuller’s yet that wasn’t fantastic and we can’t wait to return to The Sanctuary House again! Food & drinks: Pub was fantastic and welcoming!
Could not have asked for a nicer or more convenient location to stay on our trip to London! The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, especially Vic in the pub. Our room was a good size for two, with a small couch and comfortable bed. The hotel provided milk, coffee, and water in the room as well as a hair dryer and fresh towels as needed. I loved that the plugs by the bed were USB-friendly and that there was a switch for the whole room by the bed! Very nice touch. Everyone in my party 3 rooms, 6 people were incredibly pleased with our rooms. Breakfast each morning was delicious I recommend the Eggs Benedict or the Full English. Location was stunning, within walking distance of Westminster Abbey, St. James Underground station, a little further to Trafalgar Square, and more. Also within walking distance of many coffee spots Pret a Manger and Costa and other pubs if you need variety like Blue Boar or Adam and Eve. We felt incredibly safe walking around during the day and night. Plus, the little mints at the front desk were delightful. : We would highly, highly, highly recommend this hotel and pub to anyone visiting London! Rooms: Perfect for 2, well-appointed, comfortable beds and pillows, soap and body wash were provided and great, fresh towels daily as needed. Safety: Safe around the hotel; be mindful of pickpockets near touristy locations. We had no issues! Walkability: Perfect for Westminster Abbey, the Thames River, Big Ben, Westminster Pier, Trafalgar, and St. James Station Food & drinks: Delicious, convenient breakfast. Easy dinner after long days of walking!
We've stayed in the Sanctuary House a few times now and we love it. Right in the heart of Westminster, its location is second to none. It retains its quirkiness despite a recent renovation and that is to be welcomed. Their breakfasts are out of this world. Try the eggs Benedict or the full English breakfast.Rooms: 5/5
This hotel has lovely helpful staff particularly Teresa sorry if I have spelt it incorrectly and Destiny at breakfast. The location is only minutes away from the tube and main attractions. The rooms are very clean and the shower was very good. Nice pub food for a meal. Obviously very expensive due to the location but cannot fault the service at all.
We stopped in to the sanctuary house pub for some lunch, and we were not disappointed. We did not have a reservation, but they welcomed us, just asking that we order at the bar. We enjoyed the fish and chips as well as the cheeseburger. It was a hearty meal - great portions, and was delicious.
We absolutely loved the Sanctuary House hotel. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. From the quietness of the area to the cleanliness of the hotel and excellent staff, we had NO complaints whatsoever. The hotel is also within easy walking distance to many London attractions. If were in London again we'll be at the Sanctuary House. Thank you all for making our 23rd anniversary so special!
