Nice looking pub with some good ales however it is very expensive. The deposit system for booking a table of £10 per person is ridiculous and not refundable making bill splitting impossible. The fish and chips tasted nice it was just a small portion.

First visit to the Russell Arms with friends for a pre-Christmas meal. The warmest of welcomes from our host and made to feel like we were lifelong regulars. The menu was simple and short, which led to a lovely pick and mix of starters between the four of us. The cauliflower and squid were excellent. I have the wild venison steak for main, which was beautiful. Tender flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Service throughout the evening was first class. Great value for money meal that we all enjoyed and unanimously left saying we must come back very soon. Thank you.
We had eaten Sunday lunch here before and really enjoyed it so were looking forward to it again. Unfortunately, the food was cold as it was served on cold plates and we were sat in the bar next to a couple where the lady had taken full advantage of happy hour and was rather loud. We had booked to sit in the restaurant...
Very good food. Unfortunately, the service lets it down. It was slow and not especially friendly. Waited ten minutes for a replacement coffee that takes 30 seconds at most, although best avoided as from an automatic machine. It doesn’t take much to make people feel welcome but seems hard to find these days.
Staff lovely, ambience perfect..a little chilly. But the food very poor, basic main course over priced ..not sure if cooked from the freezer .cod and french fries and our puddings were a disaster.. the worst crumble we have ever tasted. Sad as the food had been good on previous visits hence our return.
Waxes and wanes as a boozer and restaurant. Last time I visited the Portuguese chef was cooking up a storm and good ales in the bar. Could do without the sycophantic portraits of formers PMs on the walls by the toilets…mind you, almost where they belong.
First visit. Enjoyable and well presented roast. The Yorkshires were big enough for 2/3 people. Sadly no Pink Gin was available, very surprising.
Went for Saturday lunch at the pub. maybe it was just a busy time but service was extremely slow! The chicken burger was average - a little dry so I suggest going for a topping or two . decent overall, friendly staff trying to manage a very busy pub
What a lovely pub, spent my birthday lunch there. Glorious food and great surroundings especially with the cozy fire on a cold January afternoon. Definitely be back
