Love this pub. It's a proper pub, with great beers, welcoming atmosphere and a landlord who loves cheese puns
What a lovely little pub, truly old school but the beer is next level. The pub has an open fire and sends you right back in time, the poeple where lovely right down to the bartender and the local lads and lasses just enjoying a pint or two. A wonderful chcarecter to this pub that has been lost though the commercialisation of most pubs in Britain today. A truly special spot, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Always great beer and atmosphere. Pity it's not always open when you expect a pub to be
Lovely welcoming pub serving nicely kept beers. Would recommend a visit!
This place is easy to miss Hiden away on one of the quite back streets of wirksworth, but it's worth looking for, as it's a little gem of a pub with a good selection of real ales, as fresh as you can get. They have a stunning collection of fin malt whisky And a long list of other drinks that are available for people who don't understand what they are missing out on. They have a garden and a pool table and some very good chess players and good conversation is normal the order of the day.
Possibly the best pub in the area but certainly the best kept beer. Friendly and welcoming old school pub with a landlord who’s attention to serving the best pint possible makes this a real gem of a pub. Whiskey collection is not half bad either. It’s a joy to drink in this pub.
How a pub should be! Great atmosphere, great beer and Whisky! Check out the back barn and the great wood burning fire. Oh and ask about the beer mate in the premises, if you are lucky it may well be on the bar
Great traditional pub with ever changing cask ales and a regular local music venue
Great little place, full of friendly locals, lots of dogs, very dog friendly, bar staff were great and pulled a good pint of Warsteiner :
Great choice of beer, friendly owners. There's normally a good range of beers from dark to IPA. There is also a stove so it's cosy. We'll worth a visit as it an unusual traditional pub. It's unusual as entering you feel like you are going into someone's house. They also serve decent wine, cider, soft drinks and also hot drinks made to order. If you like whisky Jim has a decent selection to choose from. This is not a pub to visit for a meal but there are normally decent things to snack on.
