Came here as it was attached to a premier Inn stay and was slightly concerned seeing the reviews and photos but happily surprised at the quality and service we received. The food was really nice and the staff were really freindly and helpful. My wifes order unfortunately was missing an ingredient but the chef made a special meal to accommodate the choice replacing some of the items to create a very nice similar option. My son who was 2 dropped part of his desert but even though the restaurant had no blame in this he received a replacement item free of charge. Overall I couldn't be happier with this visit.
Took my son for an inset day breakfast treat, was seated without being told they were out of pastries and pancakes, there was no fruit, granola or yoghurt out and was only bought out when I asked for it. No ketchup either. The only saving grace was we weren't charged for breakfast beacause of this and the manager was very apologetic.
I booked on Friday for a meal with our friends and we had a lovely time! Our waitress was excellent and the food was really good. A lot of choice and the Christmas menu was varied and very good value for money. Do go and try it, the roadworks are a pain but the pub is definitely worth a visit!
Was here about 2 /3 weeks ago while working in the area. Ordered a 6oz cheeseburger. Unfortunately was served what resembled an over cooked burger somewhere between 2-4oz, which I'm sure the photos will confirm. When asked a member of staff about the size, b the reply was that's the size we order! I was offered another burger disappointedly not a replacement meal but my tea was already lookwarm and by the time they cooked another burger it would've been cold. I have since been informed all their chefs are FULLY TRAINED! Not according the pitiful meal I got served
This place is lovely. We were staying at the Premier Inn next and decided to go for an evening meal. The food was lovely. Mum had the Fish and chips as well as the Apple pie dessert and I had the Chicken Tikka and the Sticky toffee pudding with Ice cream and custard. Kim out Waitress was lovely and her customer service skills were second to none. She is a credit to the team.
Just enjoyed a family meal. Really friendly staff, great service, excellent food. For small appetites we had the children's roast, great value, right amount would highly recommend for more seniors like us 3. Quick promt service, great comfy place. Loved our visit
Food was amazing as usual. There was a staffing problem short of staff so when we walked in the staff seemed stressed and finished their conversations first. Fair play maybe if there was a sorry about that... there wasn't. The women's loos were awful smelling wise. I had to double check I hadn't gone in the men's as it really stunk of urine. Very unpleasant. Service from our waitress was good, when we asked her to check our bill she seemed a bit off. The christamas menu was 2 course for x amount and 3 courses for £17.99 good value.... but they had put on our bill the puddings so charged us £10 extra. Worth checking your bills
Quite an unsatisfactory lunch this time around - I used to come here when I was little and was fond of the staff. This time however I decided to walk in for lunch with a friend. The host was a kind man who showed us a table. The waitress however, who we caught smoking out the front in the public eye upon entry, took 20 minutes to take our drinks and starters order it was quiet I could almost forgive the smoking if she wasn't so pushy and rude. My friend wanted the gammon, and was demanded to have two eggs with it when he only wanted one. "You have to have 2" isn't what you say to customers when they order their food how they want it. He felt uncomfortable about how the waitress encroached on his appetite. The starters were nice, maybe a little extra cheese on the nachos could've been an idea, but all around was pleasant. We received our mains efficiently and we both had chips, but the salt shaker was faulty and dispensed rock salt all over my chips. I put vinegar first so the salt sticks, but the rocks of salt made my chips inedible. We brought this to the waitress' attention, to which she confirmed "Yep, that's rock salt." And then walked away with the shaker. Didn't even bring us another working shaker or offer to do anything about the chips when I explained and she agreed that I couldn't eat them now. Don't really see how a broken shaker is my fault. But who cares about chips. The burger I had was excellent; soft bun and juicy patty and cooked perfectly to how I requested. My choice of no burger sauce was listened to, and it was delicious. My friend enjoyed the gammon, received the sauce he asked for quickly, and commented that his chips were cooked well. I revealed myself to be a Whitbread shareholder with a discount card and the waitress quickly changed her tune and began to joke with us and try to redeem herself. I noticed. It was a let down and almost spoiled the afternoon, had it not been for the polite and attentive host who brought our drinks quickly and was extremely welcoming. He made us feel important and that is what sticks out. Suffice to say I will not be returning, possibly to the waitress' advantage, as I'm sure she was happy to see the back of us.
This has to be one of the best bars restaurants I have had the pleasure to visit. The management are superb as are the staff, even the patrons are really friendly. 5*s all day long. Thank you. Geordie.
Perfect breakfast! Service has been great. Thankyou to all the staff including the chef! I am the one that asks for crispy bacon and runny yolk in my fried eggs. I am sorry but you always oblige! Thankyou.
