Saddest looking eggs Benedict I've had in a while. Got two portions and they were both the same. A single slice of bacon for both eggs, not even a bit of green to bulk it up. Edit: To reply to the comment from the owner: it could not possibly have fallen off, because the container you gave me was completely enclosed with a secure lid you can even see the container in my picture. Also I'm sure I would be aware of a piece of bacon lying in my backseat for months. I'm afraid whoever you talked to is misremembering I hope.
Recently had the pleasure to visit on a bitterly cold day during the icy spell and did not know what I wanted to have. I had been laying Christmas wreaths on my relatives graves, alongside my 88 year old Mother, and we badly needed some good food. We were shown to a table right beside a heater and were given our menus and the server told us that homemade Minestrone soup was the soup of the day, so I ordered a tuna melt and a bowl of soup. We were not prepared for the amazing dish that was served up to us. I have never had a more authentic and delicious bowl of soup before. It was a meal in itself and my Mother enjoyed hers so much that she got a takeaway portion to have the next day as she doesn’t have a big appetite, but the soup was ideal to keep her full along with some of the beautiful brown bread that accompanied it. Thanks so much for the beautiful food and great service. We will be back.

Although I live in Lucan Village I had never been in the River Cafe before this visit. Our party of four adults had breakfast there and not one of us was disappointed. We were impressed with the quality & quantity of the food and the friendly efficient staff. It was great value I thought at €60 for four full breakfasts, two pots of tea, two coffees twice, toast and a scone.
Very rude staff towards the customers. I wont be back. I remember when this coffee shop was the best in the village. So sad how bad management & staff can ruin a hospitality business.

Absolutely the best spot for a bite to eat & a coffee in Lucan. Never disappoints. Really love the breakfasts here at the weekend & the kids are mad about the French Toast. Coffee is superb. Staff are always attentive & friendly, even when busy. Great value for money.

Visited here last Sunday for a scone and coffee. Got a lovely cherry scone and butter and a portion of good jam that we were given without asking. The service by a young waiter was excellent and we watched as all tables were cleared and cleaned thoroughly when patrons left. No hesitation in recommending this cafe and the rest of the menu looked great as well. We will be back.
