Went to the local garden centre but didn't think much of the limited food they were serving for lunch, so my friend had visited this pub before and we thought we would give it a try. When we arrived it was quite busy and we hadn't booked but the lady managed to find us a table. The food was lovely and well priced. I particularly impressed with the homemade raspberry pavlova 1st photo, scampi 2nd photo, roast beef 3rd photo, beer battered chicken Gordon's 4th photo. The service was great too. I will be back.
A traditional English pub serving great ale and food as you would want it to be in traditional but CLEAN and well maintained surroundings. Well managed hands on owner with a great team. Will be back soon…
Amazing place hidden away at the base of the knoll - good menu with clearly marked Vegan and Gluten-Free options, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Sat outside in the garden for a superb starter, epic Gammon and superb desserts Pavlova and Cheesecake - with the coldest ice-cream in the world - Thatchers GF Cider too, glad I had to walk back to my hotel, well fed! Expensive, maybe, but worth it!
For a MAJOR change from hot dogs, burgers and all the other staples offered by Brean we took a 10min drive to this great little pub sitting very picturesque at the foot of Brent Knoll. We had booked in advance, and just as well as it was very busy. Despite this our initial service was quick and pleasant. We ordered 2x roast of the day turkey and cheesy garlic bread with chips for the squirt. The chips were MASSIVE but obviously twice cooked as rhey were crispy yet soft inside. Indeed all of the food was well cooked and did not disappoint. The only negative for me was that as the pub was well booked, we were seated away from the busy main body and into what was clearly a bowling alley. With there being only one other party with us it felt rather lonely. I don't think it was intentional but it did feel like we'd been somewhat abandoned, though not neglected. I'd maybe install a TV or at the very least some background music. Well worth a visit booking recommended
Popped in here after going to local farmers market. Extremely impressed with this lovely traditional public house. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We were made to feel so welcome even though we were strangers to the area. Spotlessly clean and whoever cleans the brass around the fire place deserves a medal - it was beautifully shiny! Beautiful garden areas to front and rear. Skittle alley and function room available. We viewed the menu and wished we had not already made lunch plans because we were very tempted! We were told 70% + is homemade and locally scoured products. We will definitely visit again. The lady that welcomed us was lovely and explained the history of the pub. Plenty of parking spaces available including disabled parking. Full disability access throughout and I have no doubt the staff would be helpful with any concerns. Traditional opening hours so check before visiting and I would recommend booking for food in advance as it appears well patronised.
Atmosphere, the decor, the service, the staff, the food , all just fantastic, I can not recommend this place highly enough, best steak I've had in years, spent the evening celebrating a friends birthday, a great evening all round.
Stopped in for Sunday roast. We hadn’t booked but they were able to arrange a table for us. Excellent service, friendly staff and meal was delicious, plentiful and great value for money. Would eat here again.
Excellent food and really friendly staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Fantastic place, we ended up here by chance snd glad we did. We were very welcomed by I believe was the land lady Tess I think her name was and a very friendly waiter. We picked from the specials. I had the chilli and the misses had the beef roast dinner. Amazing meal, we both really enjoyed the meal, washed down with a pint of Amstel. Definitely recommend, and will be returning. Thank you Tony and Tash
Fair decent pub. Friendly local atmosphere. The in-laws love it. Very good desserts!
