Potential hampered by inconsiderate patronsnnI went to see the Christmas panto here, and while the venue is large and on a single level, the layout isn't great for viewing. From row N, it was difficult to see the stage over the people in front, which must have been even worse for the little ones.nnSadly, the experience was marred by several inconsiderate families. There were restless, crying children and a family behind us that decided to have a full-blown conversation and snack session during the entire performance – incredibly distracting. There was also a strange, foody smell hanging in the air, possibly from the same source.nnI also felt for the cleaners afterwards; it was clear many people didn't bother using the bins provided, which makes you wonder about the state of their own homes. Another annoyance was the number of people loitering in doorways, waiting for rides or just stopping to tie their shoelaces, blocking the flow of traffic. On the plus side, parking is plentiful, and the location is very close to the bus station which you can use to travel to a much better venue.nnOverall, the potential of the venue is let down by the audience experience.
Although a great venue it is not the best for a panto. This year we booked early so we could have seats near the front to accommodate children. I have been going to a panto in Oldham, usually the Rep, for 75 years, with my children, grand children and now great grandchildren.nThis year's Beauty and the Beast was great .... very funny, very entertaining for all ages thanks to the professionalism of on-stage and back-stage staff.
We watched a Xmas panto there that was traditional laughs and good family fun.nSeating area is big but flat on one level.nFree parking for 3 hours at weekend so covered the show time. Bar available.
Visited to watch a panto just before Christmas. Great little venue, with a bar and snacks. Old building, could do with a bit of work; but nevertheless a good facility.
Went to see a panto Aladdin here recently. Parking was really easy and was free for a limited time NOTE you still need to obtain a ticket from the machine though and display in windscreen. The pantomime was great, the layout in the hall was fabulous, viewing was great, stage layout/set up was fab. The staff in there were all so helpful too!
