About

The Putney Canteen offers 2 floors of food & fun. Upstairs a cafeteria, baguette station and restaurant, downstairs a kids party & event area.

Story

The cafeteria serves freshly ground coffee, lighter meals and at the baguette station you can order your own freshly made baguette or one of Alan's other lunchtime takeaway dishes.

In the restaurant area you are able to watch your food being prepared in our open kitchen; which serves up 100% homemade bread, cakes & pies and organic meat from Cleavers Butchers. Enjoy brunch, lunch or dinner with us!

We are very popular with young families as we have plenty of space for buggies to be parked next to tables, and our kids menu serves up really generous portions of freshly made, healthy and filling food.

Our offers, which run throughout the week, are restricted to one offer, per person, per visit.

Relaxed environment, high quality food, a successful venture for good brunch in Putney area. Would highly recommend.
Decent food and well-priced. But annoyed that they forgot our order and kept promising it was just 5 minutes away. We walked out in the end. Still, they were smart enough to give us the drinks for free and offered us a free meal on another occasion. We're local, so we'll take them up on the offer and continue going. The coffee area has been reduced to make way for diners, which is a bit sad as I used to enjoy working on my laptop in there.
Friendly service. Decent portions although they could do with more of a balance between richness and offsetting with fresh vegetables or a light salad. 2 4 1 cocktails and beer offered by the pint. What more could you need? Great way to spend a chilled evening especially with the live music .
Love this place. Good food amazing all day brunch menu!, very helpful and accommodating staff, reasonably priced. Great for a spot of lunch - imagine pretty fun in the evening but yet to experience that!
I spent the evening there for a friends birthday party, we had a section of the canteen to ourselves. It really worked well to while the evening chatting with friends. A massive plus was 2 for 1 cocktails from 5 to 8pm. Service was a little slow at times.
Customer Service - Non existent or they just don't know what it is they just relay on repeat business shame as these same customers have recommended us new customers, what business turns away business or just say we have a waiting time will 15-30 mins etc. Blond lady did not even acknowledge me just walked out 2nd time this has happened surely if making coffee you can acknowledge a customer that you are starring at. Thankfully i do the lunch run and i am taking away the 5 people that do go this establishment away from them lovely fish and chips few doors down fresh food, or 2 min walk down to Putney high street for much better food establishments. Owner is making and does not really care anymore looks like as i have opened up my business around the corner 25 customers they have lost rant over. Avoid at all cost.
Love this place. Been here a few times with our 14month old daughter for lunch and brunch. Loads of room, lovely staff, great burger they also own a butchers and a fantastic eggs royale. Nicely priced too!
im not to sure if it was just a really bad day they were having due to other reviews but I went here thinking it was going to be great and it was by far the worst breakfast I have ever had! to the point I sent the whole thing back. I ordered corn fritters with ado and salsa. it came out with flat cold fritters looked like yesterdays frittered heated up slightly and came out half cold. with maple syrup! easy to over priced for whats on the menue, will not be going back.
Shocking service at the cafe bar area, I ordered a croissant for me and my daughter and a coffee for eat in. Some takeaway orders came in after and they gave the croissants away. That was the only thing my daughter wanted to eat. 25 minutes later, for a coffee and crossaints mind you, they tell me this and offer to pay back service charge. The coffee was also pretty bad, pret and coffee chains have better coffee. Stay away
Great food - I enjoyed the toasted banana bread. Nice vibe. Service a below average, but they were quite busy at the time I was there on a Sunday brunch time.
