Really pleasantly surprised by the asparagus and pea risotto. The tastiest I've ever tried I think. Really tasty butter with the sourdough bread too. Great wine list even if lacking options for good value wine by the glass. Only reason not five is that it's a tad on the overpriced side. Couldn't quite bring myself to pay £7.50 for a desert.

Excellent service for Sunday lunch today. The food itself was very good (4* rating), but it was so swamped and busy, that they could have easily treated me (on my own) as not worth wasting much time on. But they made a real effort - a really nice pint (Cwtch, from Newport's Tiny Rebel Brewery), a quickly served pork roast, and a comfortable seat with a free newspaper. I'd happily go back again.

Been here several times and really enjoyed it. Most recently had the Sunday roast. It was fantastic, one of the best I have had in a long time. Beef was perfect, it practicaly melted in the mouth. Also good for a post work drink. They have a wide selection of gin and a range of beer on tap. Bar area can be noisy but upstairs area is very pleasent.

I visited on 1st March, 2018.going through the front door, which was wide open, there is a second door open. I pushed the door and entered slipping on a large pool of snow and water. It remained in that condition throughout my hours stay. Watching others enter they also slipped on the snow, however, staff present did nothing to mop up or place a mat over the wet. I ordered a drink intending to have a bar meal. The barman wearing a white shirt, was miserable with no smile nor welcome of any kind. Sitting down straight away I became very cold because it seemed to me there was no heating on. The atmosphere and sandwich menu was dull and certainly not conducive to spending any more time than was necessary. There was a large open fireplace devoid of any sort of fire. Seeing a flame in the grate may have improved the overall ambience. As it was I left soon after arriving with a very memory of my visit. One of the worst pubs I’ve ever visited in Britain.

Sunday roast upstairs: Roast and drinks were lovely and staff were attentive. Vegan nut roast was really good too!
