We came today for Sunday Lunch and WOW .. amazing food and service was fantastic! Plenty of meat, well presented, it really lived up to what I had been recommended.. I can’t wait to return! The owner was extremely friendly, down to earth and couldn’t do enough for us. See You Soon!!
The service we experienced was special, effortless and not forced. Didn't get the man's name but was taking our orders for food and drink today 5th May at 1pm think he was the only man on the restaurant floor. Had a one year old with us and he was very accommodating and thoughtful with offerings as well as being funny and generally a lovely person. Child friendly and even a children's roast! Nice to see more than one vegetarian option on the menu on a Sunday too. Nut roast was different to the ones I have had before, very nice. Vegetarian options: Nut roast Other vegetarian options on the Sunday menu
I stayed for two nights, it was lovely would definitely recommend. Front of house, domestic team were really helpful. The food was outstanding, twelve of us ate and everyone really enjoyed their food, nothing left on any plate. I also had two breakfasts, beautiful wish I could have stayed longer and tried more of the menu! Parking: Loads of parking, just a little tight getting up to the car park.
We took family to stay for 2 nights on 10 May 24. There was no breakfast and coffee machine in bar was broken. Both rooms were dirty with mould round shower. Water was left in coffee machine in room and old dirty coffee pods left in. Duvets were shoved in wardrobe taking up space and would get dirty. I complained to manager who said Landlord would phone me. Apparently cleaners only come in every 3rd day. How do you get coffee replenished and toilet roll if needed. All in all the whole place needs refurbishing. We spent a lot of money which was definitely not worth it. We were given a key to let ourselves in and out of fire exit as no one on site at certain times. Won't be going again. Parking: No problem with parking.
Disappointed as the reviews and the menu online looked fantastic. The menu we received was a basic one with very little choice, I asked if they had another menu like the one online but that is all they had. The service was incredibly slow, there was about fifteen minutes between myself and my wife’s order being received. The food was below average, especially the dessert, my wife had a brownie which was all hard round the edges most likely being put in a microwave for too long. The service was poor as we were in the restaurant for almost three hours due to slow service and I had to go to the bar to ask to order desserts, they also didn’t clear our plates and cutlery away after our main meal. Really disappointed, I can only assume they were staff shortages, but still no excuse for such a bad experience.
We managed to get in here at short notice and were pleasantly surprised. It's a busy place with a high turnover but service was good. Food was nice and a decent portion. Pictures shown: mixed meats Sunday dinner including chicken, pork belly, beef and lamb with Yorkshire puds, stuffing and mixed vegetables and fish & chips. Only very minor criticism was the weird small rectangular plates which were given with the sharing platter. Impractical to eat off, but that's not a massive problem!
Lovely one night stay, room was really comfortable nice decor, very friendly staff and located in the centre of town, parking at the rear of the inn. We didn’t have food as we had already eaten but it certainly looked good and smelled delicious. We certainly will stay again.Food: 5/5
A tale of two half's... Order for drink taken quickly enough at the bar, however the server didn't know how to properly pull a pint, just a pint of TT Landlord so nothing special. She ended up leaving it 2/3rds full on the bar and went off to serve a local. I asked another lady at the bar to help me and she quickly and professionally finished topping it up. I ordered food at the same time, it was delivered without delay and was very nice, however no cutlery or condiments were brought with it and it took an age for the same poor pint pourer to bring them to me. There was no atmosphere in the place just a constant trail of young locals coming to the bar for rounds. I wasn't asked at anytime if my food was ok, fortunately it was, so there's a good chef. I spoke to the lady who topped my pint up and it turns out she was the tenant or owner until recently and her husband is the chef, so it was obvious they have the skills needed, unfortunately it wasn't the same for the other staff... Disappointing and would be terrible if it wasn't for the food, &20+ for burger and a pint, you'd expect better, it's not a Spoon's...
I have never ordered fish and chips as a meal of choice, but when I saw and smelt it delivered to a neighbouring table me and my partner had to go for it! It did not disappoint, I would definitely recommend to any travelling by! Friendly and quick service also Food: 5/5
Stayed and ate here and I’m just deflated. Checked in, was shown to room, there isn’t a guest book or any information on accessing the restaurant, breakfast, who to contact in an emergency, facilities. Feels like you’re just being left to figure everything out for yourself, I still have no idea if breakfast is served. Draw in bedroom has bits of left over flat pack in, bathroom seems to have stickers all over that have been on for 10+ years. There is a cupboard with heater and fan in but the extra duvet is just chucked in. The dust on the bed side tables is thick, which did actually throw me a bit because it means that it just hasn’t been touched in a long time. Coffee and tea left in room aren’t identified as caffeine or decafe, no milk and the cups we had been left were actually thick with coffee stains, don’t believe they had been cleaned. Because there is no numbers to ring in the room, had to get ready and go downstairs to get new mugs. It just feels very unfinished and the welcome from coming in to the staff dealing with us at dinner it just doesn’t feel comfortable. Food is pricey and a “optional 10% service charge is added to your food bill” this information is printed on bits of A4 paper and are stuck to the nicely decorated walls which just brings down the tone. You don’t get asked if you’re happy for the charge and the card machine was handed over before we had a chance to say otherwise. For the cost of the food and drink already, I don’t agree with it and customers should be left to tip what they are comfortable with. 0% alcohol is only one flavoured cider and one beer, menu online has other options which is a shame. Also no drinks menu is given to you so it’s an awkward encounter of you asking for something to be told they don’t have it. We came to bed because of this instead of staying in the bar but the telly has limited Chanel’s and is hard to work. I was also a bit thrown by how dirty the stairs are up to the restaurant and rooms. Also really confused by there being two separate websites with totally different information on. These are all minor but because of the amount of them it has ruined my experience a bit. Parking: bit narrow but fine, just watch for potholes
