The Parish Church of Saint John the Baptist, Yaverland , Isle of Wight , Diocese of Portsmouth.  The church, gem of late Normand architecture was erected until 1305 when a chantry for the Russell family , lord of Manor Yaverland is returned of the Dean of Winchester. Also, Aula lords of Yaverland deed 1228 held same estate and Manor House in same place near church during the Middle Ages. The church is a fine Norman private chapel built by the Lord of the Manor for his family use, tenants or retainers. The medieval church of Branding was the burial place, Yaverland itself does not have a grave-yard.  Yaverland was assigned as a garrison church during the Henry VIII reign and in 1888-9 the Victorian architect Ewan added an organ chamber , replaced the roofs under the Rector of Yaverland, Nelson Palmer.

Very nice Church one part dating back to the 12th century.
