Great beverage option, we went there for a couple of drinks. Also, we have ordered an apple crumble.. it was a bad choice.. crumble wasn't very tasty, maybe chef had a bad day.. so did person who was responsible for keeping toilets tidy..
Shocking. Horrible service. My friend ordered a spicy bean burger as she’s a vegetarian, the burger arrived and it was chicken so went to the bar to complain and they denied that it was chicken. I my self ordered a steak with peppercorn sauce, it arrived with no sauce so ended up going to the bar twice to ask where it was, my friend went a third time and was told there wasn’t any at all with no apology. My food was cold at this point as it was half an hour between being served my food and finding out there was no sauce. If it was busy in there I could understand but there was genuinely about 4 customers at the time. Wouldn’t recommend this place for food at all
Cheap and cheerfull. The beer was good, but the food was not so good. My mate had bangers and mash, the sausages were terrible. My burger leaked out fat all over the plate when I picked it up. But for 7 quid for a burger and a pint you can't really complain. The bar staff were friendly and it is a nice pub with clean toilets and decent decor... except the wooden post in the midde of the entrance double doors that I nearly walked into.
It's an okay pub but a few things went wrong during our visit. We ordered food Sunday afternoon when there were 2 other tables inside who weren't eating so really quiet. They didn't have haloumi fries, no sweet potato fries, no vegan mayo. All because 'the delivery didn't come in'. It was Sunday so that seams very much possible but shows poor stock management. After 30 minutes I went to ask the bar staff about our food. He went to check and came to our table saying it'd be another 15 minutes as the girl in the kitchen pressed a big red button that turned off all equipment so the heating up took a long time. Strange story and he didn't bother offering us anything for the inconvenience. We wanted to have eaten before the United kick-off which we had to watch in the pub next-door as this pub doesn't have Sky Sports. Our food finally came after 45 minutes and the mushrooms didn't have the garlic dip that was listed on the menu, apparently this was out of stock too. Then, whilst we were eating the bar guy went smoking outside leaving both doors wide open, was so cold! Then there was also a little kid running around the whole pub... Non stop and no one who told him to calm down. On a positive note, I loved the vegan options! The Wellington was delicious. So my suggestion, get someone in to manage kitchen stock, and let go of the children programme that was on TV - some sports channel would be great :
I don't know what has happened recently, but the place has gone badly downhill. - Went with family at 12.30 on a Saturday - told that there would be a 20 minute wait, but it became 45 minutes. - Order for Gammon and Pineapple arrived with gammon overcooked/burnt and missing the tomato and onion rings listed on the menu - Order for fish and chips with garden peas arrived without any peas - Order for Steak Plate Pie arrived with cold mash The quality of the Fish and the steak pie were great, but everything else let it down. The price is very good, but that is no excuse for this list of errors. It was served in a rush, and there was no followup question asking if all was OK, so we just ate the bits we could and left.
If you want lunch during the week, don't go here. The better chefs are on at weekends. I've had seriously bad meals and the staff have been dreadful week days but I suppose it's what you order. They say the soup is home made and comes with white or brown bread. We got a tin of chicken soup and no bread! Had to complain at the bar 3 times before the kids finally got their full meal. However, went today Saturday and risked ordering cheese garlic bread and it was lovely. It depends on what chef is on i guess.
Absolutely no problem with staff attendence..very friendly and nice atmosphere. Sorry!! to say there is a lot of noise from above and have been told locals tend to sit near the bar area away from back of the room because of this problem. This area upstairs is where they change barrels i was told by friends. It was my first visit so please find out for yourself! Or ask friends.. or others.
Tom is doing a great job. Great value, good food and fantastic customer service
Monday night, walked in to bar, empty except for two being served at the bar. The two of us stood closely by waiting to be served. A bit of a delay by the barman who had to disappear out back for a couple of minutes. Returned to complete the order for the couple next to us. Having patiently waited for 4 or 5 mins, he then walked straight past us to a new customer who had just walked in and served him. Seemed to know what he wanted! How could he have missed us!? Needless to say we just walked straight out and wished him well.
This place is a far cry of what this use to be. The place was practically dead. I now know why....Came here as a party of 6 for a bite to eat on an empty bonfire night. Ordered food for us all. 3 members of our party ordered sirloin but was told there wasn't any. Couldn't believe what I was served. I ordered the double bacon cheese burger...on the first attempt I was given a single patty. After sending the burger back for the additional patty which I waited over 15'minutes for whilst everyone ate their food..my burger arrived. The burger was suppose to come on a brioche bun with burger sauce, lettuce, tomatoe. Coleslaw, side salad and chips was meant to accompany the burger. The bun was literally a semi frozen barm which crumbled as soon as it was picked up. No sauce or salad on it. They forgot the coleslaw and side salad, somehow substituted by 3 onion rings. After waiting an hour for the food I ate what I could as I was hungry at the time. Spoke to the chap behind he bar and he even said he doesn't eat the food there!! This place use to be overflowing...clearly fallen from grace. Will never ever go back and would seriously discourage anyone not to eat here.
