Building today belonging to the King's School of Canterbury, which since 1982 has been used as a recital hall and which is also given to the Jewish community to celebrate the Sabbath and other festivities such as Easter, Purim or even weddings. In its day it was truly a 19th century synagogue, whose construction replaced a previous 18th century temple. It was designed by the local architect H. Marshall, and built between 1846 and 1848. Its neo-Egyptian appearance is striking with lotiform columns both on the façade and in the central interior bimah; obelisks on the balcony of the women's area; or even the ceremonial bath erected as if it were an authentic temple of the Nile. Mikveh that is located in the back garden of the old synagogue.
