We came from Australia to visit family. Stayed at The Old Lodge for a couple of days. Location was great. Room was perfect. Breakfast was awesome. Staff were lovely. All and all fantastic stay. They made us feel very welcomeRooms: 5/5
Me and my partner just wanted to escape for a day over Easter, by the seaside which was minutes away rooms were comfortable and clean slept like a baby had a roast which filled the spot and breakfast which was equally good. Staff were friendly and overall a very good atmosphere, all in all would very much come back again! Rooms: 5 Nearby activities: 5 Safety: 5 Walkability: 5 Food & drinks: 5
Enjoyed our stay here, John the manager was friendly and welcoming. Told us everything we needed to know regards our stay. Breakfast is a FULL English if you choose it. Totally set up for the day after that. Room was clean, with decent sized en suite shower room. Perfect for Stokes Bay it’s a five minute walk away. Would recommend.
Lovely to meet the host, Kirsty. She made a point of saying hello and we had a chat when she was less busy. The updates to the lodge since my last visit have been nicely approached. The bar has moved into the larger area for dining and seating. I have visited other hotels in the area, more expensive ones, yet The Old Lodge is perfect for my needs. The beach is a close walk, but there is a little bit of travel needed for most holiday facilities. There is a nice run of shops right behind the lodge inclusing cafe, takeaways and convenience store amongst other. Rooms: Clean and spacious. Bed was firm, which suited my back.
We were a very large group of 14, including 4 children, we booked seats in advance for the Sunday evening. Lovely staff, bit of a mix up with the orders but I put that down to being so many sunday roasts ordered and most were different meals too, brilliant starter and amazing pudding. There was a lovely garden with a bouncy castle there too.
What a great little place the Old Lodge is! John could not have been more helpful, what a lovely guy. This lovely affordable hotel was an easy pleasant 20 minute coast view walk to the venue we were attending in Gosport. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic a PROPER full English definitely worth every penny.
Booked two double rooms at this place five months in advance and received confirmation of my booking. I chose this place as my husband is disabled and it was close to where we were visiting to attend a golden wedding anniversary party which was 170 miles away from home. Two weeks before I was due to travel, they tell me they've given my rooms away to other guests and they cannot accommodate us anymore and expected us to re-book elsewhere at short notice and pay double the price. They have ruined our mini-break and daughters birthday along with the anniversary party which we now cannot attend. I shall be reporting them to the hospitality governing body for their blatant breach of contract along with their unprofessional and substandard behaviour, they are an utter disgrace. So be warned in advance, you may book your room and get confirmation but they will take it away from you when it suits them at the last minute. Very angry indeed.
Stayed here for a long weekend. Couldn't ask for more! Very friendly and helpful staff. John and his staff made us feel very welcome. Room clean and comfortable. Atmosphere in the bar on both nights was very friendly. One chap was even playing sing along songs on his guitar which we Couldn't resist joining in with. Can't wait to return soon.
All I can say,is staying here was fantastic . Everything was just perfect. Staff were so friendly and good fun. The locals made us feel so welcome. It has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and the beds were really comfortable. We truly had a a mini break that we will never forget. Would recommend This hotel in a heartbeat. And yes we met Tom such a character . Thank you John and staff
Night stop for work near by. Very clean and tidy room, bathroom is a little tried but the bed is comfortable. Keep an eye out for the a local called Tom, he means well likes a drink though. A really nice appointed restaurant with great classic pub food, reasonable prices and nice portion sizes. I personally really enjoyed the burger. Fair play to front of house, covering the restaurant, check ins and bar. No complaints about breakfast, good coffee.
