What a lovely old pub. We were recommended after being let down at short notice at the Anchor Wyre Piddle. Staff were very accommodating and the young waitress was very pleasant. Sunday lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.
Total contradiction to today's earlier negative post as our pre-booked party of 4 enjoyed excellent Sunday lunches and found the bar staff to be very accommodating. Would recommend that you prebook as this is a quiet village pub, so it must be difficult for the Landlord to cater for all passing trade requirements. We will certainly be back as had a discussion with them regarding the separate room for group bookings.
Arrived at 2.30 on Sunday. Very hot weather was served 2 pints of “Pepsi zero” which was flat and no ice offered. Barmaid was abrupt so we didn’t ask for ice to be added. Went to order food, asked if we had booked, we said not but we’re going to sit outside, no food she said. The pub has a sign on the A44 to bring custom in, shame they don’t appear to want any actual customers. We won’t be back.
So much potential but wow what a shambles.. not from the area so we booked here for my birthday and there were limited drinks apparently if the locals don't drink it they don't stock it. We ordered two steaks, and these were fine but served with no cutlery. Then, two pizzas of which one was burnt and one was luke warm apparently they only have one pizza oven. Whilst just getting on with the disappointing meal we heard the girl tell the next customers we have no more steak.. no more curry.. no more pizza.. how on earth this place stays open I have no idea.
What a lovely place a traditional English pub. No bloody wooden boards or slates in site just good old fashioned plates. Locals were lovely and it's dog friendly.nThere aren't enough pubs like this.nNot an extensive menu but a good choice and reasonably pricednWe had two hunters chicken. They were delicious loads of sauce and cheese it was devine. A great portion of food.nDefinitely going back.
