I am glad we went to eat out, overall was an interesting eve and also showed we are not missing out too much. The service and the banter were good, and they accommodated us despite arriving without reservation and late in the evening. For that we were grateful and happy to pay the 12.5% service charge. Food however left something to be desired. Our expectations were high as we love food. The mains lacked the freshness or the complexity of flavours typically present in South East Asian food. The sweet pork was relentless sweet and as it was in a sauce, the fat was too much. Even for me who never says no to a piece of belly or a pork scratching. The “Lab salat” was flat and chewy as the pieces of salmon were not prepped right. The curry may have been the best of the three in flavour, but at £20 not inc rice I’ll say “pass” The saving grace was the small portion of pickle veg that accompanied one of the starters. It was fresh and crunchy and with a great balance of sacude and sweeten. Also the black sticky rice & the pickled garlic both of which can be order as sides. Do try those.
Delicious food and great service - as we walked in the friendly lady behind the bar seated us and asked if we wanted water and that set the tone for the visit. The chap taking our order had great advice and even recommended something from a different menu, and the owner was friendly. Overall a smashing experience and we can't wait to go back.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem...we were all blown away by the incredible food. The dumplings. The swordfish baguette. Beautiful and so different than anything I’ve had before. It’s just opened a few weeks ago so come support them!
A Cambodian gem in merry Margate. Tucked away in The Northern Belle you'll find a warm welcome, as they serve food cooked with heart and soul. We tried lots of the small plates portions are good and generous including Cambodian dumplings, we loved the clam noodles too! Will be back again to explore more of the menu and enjoy a few more cocktails.

I feel bad leaving a three star review considering the staff and owner were so lovely, and especially considering how busy they were on a Saturday evening and moving around the restaurant was somewhat difficult! The pub itself is lovely, although our seats were uncomfortable I feel perhaps we just chose wrongly considering we are tall. A good selection of drinks and Cambodian style cocktails. We had some starters and chilli garlic homemade by the owners wife and he's right, they should bottle it! which were all delicious so we had high hopes for our mains. We felt the main dishes could have been better considering how expensive they were. They were overly sweet but fairly substantial. The chicken in my broth was delicious, however from the menu I was expecting more of a rice broth but it came with noodles. My partner had an egg in his which looked like it had been in the fridge for a few days - we'd have hoped for something fresher. We had higher expectations for our mains considering the price and considering we feel we've had better food for that price elsewhere in Margate. A little underwhelming and maybe a little more finesse is needed? £20 for a noodle broth is quite steep, even if we were in London. We were very excited to have Cambodian food on our doorstep and we can only hope it improves to come back again!
Very nice food pub tucked away. It was my first visit here and it was delightful. Had such a warm welcome from the staff who were very polite and friendly. They took pride in giving good service. Also met, who I believe was the owner and was kind and friendly too. Look forward to visiting again.
A little hidden gem of Khmer Kitchen, good foods and great cocktails plus fabulous DJ !!
Value for money was 4/10 portions were small for the price. What really let the place down was the fact we waited an hour and 15 minutes for any food to come out and when it did it was mains without any sides , cold plates which were starters came after hot food and we had to continuously chase for missing dishes. When asked for feedback we felt we gave constructive criticism which was taken very poorly by the owner and the bill was then very rudely placed on the table before we even finished our meal. Not a place I would recommend
I travelled here with my wife and her cousins for a weekend away. Everything about Northern Belle is of the highest quality. The music, the environment, the food... I find myself still talking about this venue a week after going and constantly telling my wife I need to leave a positive review! Simon was instantly welcoming and whilst we sat at the bar took his time out to talk to us and give a history of the cuisine. I felt instantly put at ease by Simon as I mentioned my wife has a severe peanut allergy, as he took it upon himself to come check the food was peanut free and if we were okay with all the food. Not also Simon but the bartender and serving staff were amazing. I can not praise them all enough. A fantastic place with amazing food. We are already planning another trip to bring my in laws and friends! Keep up the good work!
