Lovely friendly staff, excellent rooms sizes and very clean. Facilities in the room was good. Breakfast was tasty and you could help yourself to as much as you like but a choice of eggs would be nice rather than just scrambled available. Mattresses were a little uncomfortable as you could feel the springs and the squeaked when you turned over in bed but slept ok. Hotel was being renovated so think it will be lovely once finished. Rooms: Clean and tidy with plenty of space and ensuite. Walkability: Easy to get to. Plenty of large clean pavements for walks.
Building being renovated but room we were allocated had a fantastic sea view but was in a very poor state. The handle was hanging off the bathroom door which had no lock and would no close. The bed was well and truly past its sell by date. As this was exactly twice the price of the holiday inn we had just stayed in, it was not value for money. Give this one a miss.
The staff were absolutely fantastic. My wife was recovering from pneumonia so was still quite unwell. They looked after our every need and asked after her each day we were there. The breakfast is very good too. The room was warm and cosy. Would recommend for great staff, great location and value for money room.
Breakfasts are superb there is a good selection and it is well cooked. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the only thing that this hotel needs is an injection of money. It is tired and needs updating. Having said the above we would stay here again.Rooms: 4/5
A great budget priced hotel, ideal for me at the time, touring with a bicycle and somewhere secure to store. Breakfast was so great each day with excellent service. All I could say here was my en suite room bathroom sink lacked a plug.Rooms: 5/5
The good: The hotel is in an excellent location. The check-in process was very easy, and the lady behind the counter was very friendly. The bad: Arriving at the hotel, it's clear that it was in need of some TLC, as the sign on the front was missing some letters. My room was on the top floor, right at the very back of the hotel, and there was no lift. Not a deal-breaker, but for anyone with mobility issues or accessibility requirements will be sorely disappointed. Upon check-in, the receptionist let me know upfront that the heating in my room wasn't working, and that someone should have it fixed by the time I get to bed. Sadly, this was not the case, which I didn't find out until I returned to my room at around midnight, by which time the room was about 10°C at best. I ended up having to sleep in my clothes. The room had a single curtain, which didn't cover the entire double-window frame, letting lots of light in in the early hours of the morning. The curtain rail wasn't secured to anything, so when I tried to simply close the curtain at first, it fell off. This could have potentially caused injury. In the end, I had to physically lift the curtain rail off in order to move the curtain. When trying to fall asleep, I was worried I might tug the curtain in the wrong way and have the pole fall down and hit me in the face. The metal hook designed to tuck the curtain away neatly was also falling away from the windowsill, and the blind has mould/water damage. The sealant on the window by the bed needs redoing too. As I was trying to sleep, I could feel a cold breeze on my face, and had no means of preventing it because of the useless single curtain. In the bathroom, there was mould above the shower, and the window wouldn't fully close/lock, hence the temperature. There was also no bin in the bathroom, so anyone wanting to dispose of sanitary products would need to do so in the open-topped bin in the main bedroom. Lastly, it seemed every step on the floor caused something to creak, and the sound-proofing in the room was virtually non-existent, as I could hear practically every word of the conversation the couple in the next room over were having. I raised this to the hotel after my stay and they refused to give even a partial refund or credit.
The guy on the reception was very professional and very friendly. Room my nice and warm , comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities. Full buffet breakfast which was very tasty. All for a very reasonable price. I will definitely stay there again. Rooms: I had a single room. Very comfortable bed. Good shower and big enough room with somewhere to sit. Food & drinks: Very good fish and chip shop less than 5 minutes away. Best I’ve ever had.
Location for a quiet break is ideal, size of room good. Staff all seem friendly enough. Clean, but not spotlessly clean. Somethings showing signs of age and could do with either replacement or tlc, eg like the shower cubicle for instance and mattress. But all in all, not bad for a short get away, especially if you've never been this neck of the woods before. Just our luck that we come from Monkey Dust capital of the world and end up staying in a place with the smell of weed drifting around the building. I mean, if I wanted that I could have saved money and stayed at home lol. Yeah man. Rooms: We stayed in a room with a sea view. Double bed which has seen better days and in need of a new mattress, but there was also a single bed at the other end of the room - just incase we fell out always handy lol. Good size room, en-suite, which also is in need of a bit of tlc. But shower works great and generally clean.
Fantastically located right on the promenade at Whitley Bay. The outside of the hotel is partially boarded up, I assume there is some work ongoing. The room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was self service.Rooms: 4/5
