Good movement is essential to good health!
Some animals - such as the sloth - have evolved to live a sedentary lifestyle. For them, this lifestyle is healthy, but not for humans! Our ancestors covered vast distances on foot, climbed trees, threw spears, picked and carried objects. We have evolved to move lots and to move multi-directionally. Our physiology and anatomy have developed in such a way that we need to keep moving to keep healthy. Just like a varied diet plays an important role in a healthy lifestyle, we need to keep our movements varied to keep our hearts, muscles, joints and minds in optimum condition.
The purpose of this FB page is to:
• Promote health through movement.
• Inspire recreational exercisers to add more variation to their routine.
• Encourage sedentary individuals to implement small lifestyle changes to increase their movement.
• Share useful information with other movement professionals such as personal trainers, osteopaths, physiotherapists, sports therapists, Pilates and yoga teachers etc.
• Advise on injury prevention and treatment.
“The hand or foot - or the whole body for that matter - cannot be kept beautiful by disuse. It was designed for use for motion not for immobility. It attained its present normal beauty its present formation through constant service and motion and only by being used freely and lovingly can its beauty be preserved and perfected.” Bliss Carman,1908
