Decided to go here on the recommendation of friends. Place has a good location right on the seafront, with nice views into the English Channel. We went late afternoom and as our table was by the window we were treated to a lovely sunset as well. The deal is excellent, 3 course for £8 is superb value for money. The place was about half full. Order was taken quickly and although the waitress was friendly, it was definitely a "get business done" transaction. Food came quickly. It was an £8 fish and chips deal and the food is best described as basic. Portions were good, but there is no attempt at presentation, just dump it on the plate and eat. Not a place for a couple, no matter how good the sunset. I had garlic mushrooms to start and in fairness they were decent enough. Scampi was hot and tasty and the lemon tart was tangy and reasonable. The place itself has more of a canteen feel than a restaurant, but again, for £8 it's great value. The low price is this places saving grace. If we had been paying £15+ per head this would be a 1 star review. Go if you want fuel for your body that is cheap, but don't want to eat in. Not a young persons place by any means, but for a group of older citizens like me, then alright. Personally for a night out with friends I'd rather pay more, have better food and atmosphere. We are going to try the £10 steak night and if it is more of the same, then we probably won't go again.
I was expecting a bit more from this place. It is more of a cafe than a restaurant. The whole experience is a bit like a budget hotel dinning room. It’s very light, without much character. The food is ok, but not the best, a bit massed produced. Service is good and polite. Everything just seemed a bit rushed through the process.
Really nice restaurant very clean with attentive staff, food came quickly and was nice and hot, plenty of cutlery with sharp knives for the meat, the deserts were good and hot. Whan asked for a glass of ice water was plesantly surprised with a glass jug full of water & ice with slices of lemon, plenty of high chairs for kids and a wheelchair accessible entrance from large car park directly in front of restaurant. Quite a lot of tables have ocean views so don't forget to ask when making reservations.
Nice setting, good value. But stick to the simple stuff, eg fish and chips, burgers, and you'll be ok. The pork in Mediterranean sauce was dry and like wood. So was the other pork dish.
Really nice place to eat.Great plates of food and great price Fish and chips,Roast lamb,veg and spuds,followed by chocolate fudge cake.Fantastic
Great restaurant on the beach. Excellent value for money. Very helpful and kind staff.  Nice menu and choice.  Great puds. Brilliant family restaurant. Childrens menu. Easy parking outside the front door. Suberb lunch guys, thank you.
If price is linked to location you could expect to pay handsomely to eat here. But the Moorings is keenly priced as if it were a cheepo chain. The food served is in another league however. Try it, your wallet will thank you.

Lovely food , great service and great quality , long may it continue . Ive been going there for the past 8 yrs , had family dinners there , work christmas meals there and even romantic dinners there . Today i took my grandaughter who is 12 for a grown up meal , she loved it
This is a very nice restaurant, no frills but good food, friendly staff, spacious and very reasonably priced. I have eaten here several times in the past, both in a large and small groups and each time everyone has been very happy. Sorry to see it is closed at present and I hope they reopen soon
