Such an amazing day out. A must do if you are in the local area. Staff are full of knowledge and have a great care for all of the monkeys. Nice little gift shop and café all money goes back into the sanctuary. Play area and nice little walks. Activity sheets given out for kids. My 4 children enjoyed doing the activity. Fantastic day. Well worth the money for entry
I've just completed the "keeper for a day" experience today. And what an experience, in the best, most life affirming sense of the word! A beautiful location and lucky enough to have had the best weather, with some of the most dedicated people guiding me through and providing a very friendly and informative day amongst the primates in their care Kim, April and Luke to name only a few - apologies to everyone else, you're all absolute heroes. Want to buy someone a gift? This is highly recommended. And if you're stuck for a day out, this is definitely worth a visit. Thank you guys, I'll remember this amazing experience for a long time.
such a brilliant trip. the staff there are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and you can tell they're totally devoted to the monkeys. it's like one big happy family there. also, your admission fee allows you to return for a whole year. massively recommended if you're in the area!
We visited the monkey sanctuary for the third time and it was just as brilliant and informative this time as every other time. We spent a good few hours here, making sure we went up to the monkeys a few times, which meant we got to see the majority of the monkeys in their care. In between this, we explored the beautiful gardens, had refreshments at the cafe and explored the gift shop we came away with two of the softest monkey teddys for our son!. The food is vegan, but you really can’t tell. It was the nicest sausage roll I’ve had in a while. The staff give very interesting talks, so make sure you stop to listen and ask questions- they’re so informative. I don’t understand the reviews that say they were in and out in half an hour. I think you get out of the experience what you put in. At the end of the day, these are wild animals who are not here for our amusement, so if you have a little patience and give it a chance, you’ll see most of the residents! It’s absolutely not a waste of money no matter how long you spend here. It’s a working sanctuary, not a zoo. Your money goes to keeping these amazing animals housed and cared for. Even if you only spent 10 minutes here which would be impossible, you know your money has gone to an extremely worthwhile cause. A brilliant day out!
A lovely little place. Can look around in about an hour. Can stretch it to 2 if with kids playing and having a little nibble in the shop. Sausage roll was gorgeous and the dessert I had. The staff are very good and very informative about the species they have and the individuals themselves. Was very interesting few hours out thankyou x
A fantastic place for all ages. Staff are so knowledgeable and passionate about the Monkeys. A lovely setting with so many exciting and large enclosures for the Monkeys to enjoy, especially after their terrible beginnings before the sanctuary. Our boys 7 & 9 both loved it. They said it was their favourite place of the holiday. Shop has lovely well priced items to appeal to all, plus all profits go to the sanctuary. With covid restrictions the cafe was shut but the gift shops sold snacks and drinks very cheap. Plus entry is valid for a year-we will be back.
Myself and husband visited this morning, it was drizzly and misty but we really enjoyed our visit. The staff were very informative and friendly. I personally was expecting a small set up due to the price but it was lovely seeing the monkeys in large enclosures. We also enjoyed the gardens. I would recommend this for both couples and families x
Nice walk up to the Sanctuary, entry fee was given straight to the charity, saw most of the Monkeys and even had info talks along the way which were very interesting. Aswrll as a park and activity for the kids. Cafe and gift shop on site. A nice afternoon out.
Recommend for families and animal lovers for a morning or afternoon. Plenty of parking. Passionate and knowledgeable staff doing great conservation work, genuinely grateful for the money that goes towards upkeep etc. Lots for kids to do with a trail given at entrance, play park, giant jenga, etc. Beautiful sea views. Even something for Ricky Gervais fans... Recommend!
Great place to spend a couple of hours if nearby. It only opens on a weekend, so we went on a Saturday and paid £9 each for entry which of course goes to the upkeep of the sanctuary and care for the monkeys those commenting on it being expensive clearly have no concept of what the money goes towards. It isn't huge but there are different species to see and the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic to tell you about the monkeys. There are also gardens to walk around and a kids play area. A small shop sells some souvenirs and drinks/snacks. The view to the sea is also brilliant. We spent a good 2-2.5hrs there. Be warned that the lane to the sanctuary is a one lane road so be prepared to use the passing places!
