Visited today, nice cocktails would recommend the tropic like it's hot and the pear drop. The only issue we had was the service itself. I ordered at the bar and went back to my seat thinking they would have brought it to the table as the bar was quiet and no where on the menu did it advise it was only bar service. They placed our drinks on the bar and did not shout over saying your drinks are ready until 10 minutes and we wondered where the drinks were until we saw them and asked if the drinks were ours. Would not recommend the service.
Very enjoyable espresso martini. Decent atmosphere. Maybe a bit quieter than some might like but a nice place to chat and relax with a cocktail.Service: 4/5
Where to start…?! The guys at Monk Bar are incredible. Travelled to Matlock to stay for 4 nights as a surprise for my partners 40th Birthday. I contacted these guys via email to book a table and request some decorations be put up to add to the surprise and they certainly delivered! Alex Barman looked after us on the night and was professional, friendly, engaging- everything you want for a special occasion. He made our time there extremely memorable and made THE BEST cocktails. Nice venue, lovely little garden, clean and well kept. Could have stayed there all night quiet easily had we not got dinner reservations at a local restaurant which was recommended by the team during my email correspondence prior to the day. To the Team- thank you for everything. 10/10. A*. We hope to see you again in the future! Keep doing what you’re doing! All the best- Liz & Daz x

Hidden gem with beer garden. Cocktails were very nice and good selection of beers. The bartender was very kind to fill our bottles up with iced water too Service: 5/5
lovely food, nice area, but like some of the other reviews mentioned, the management isn't the greatest. seemed quite rude, while the rest of the staff were lovely. my only complaint.Food: 3/5
First time here, very nice bar indeed, Matlock is great at the moment for a night out, better than Chesterfield
Excellent service. First bar I've been in where they chill your wine glass with ice before pouring. Good 'beer' garden which has music. Best accessed via public footpath rather than negotiating the stairs at the back.
Alex was absolutely amazing x we had alcoholic drinks but, them some of us had non-alcoholic drinks and ALEX made them like a cocktails xx Fantastic service. Food: 5/5
Worst manager EVER!!! Ignored customers to have a 15 minute conversation with his friends and then walked off to do shots with them leaving his staff on the bar while customers weren't being served. TerribleService: 1/5
