One of only 4 camera obscuras open and functioning in the UK. Fascinating. Only opening as a trial at the moment on weekends 10 till 4ish and the interior is small so not very covid secure. Former gunpowder store as well.

Visited the camera obscura at the old gunpowder store. Kids loved it and my daughter got to control the camera. The picture was a bit dull due to the rainy weather so we will definitely go back again on a brighter day to make the most of it.. Staff were lovely and very well informed and provided us with a limited edition book of the history of Donaghadee which was a lovely touch.
A bit of puff necessary to get there so be prepared. For those with mobility difficulties, please allow time to recover from the climb up the steps and approach from the main road fewer steps. As you can see the view is worth it. Visiting the obsura is a treat although the time is short. You get the opportunity to try moving it yourself, kids love it!
Great views from up top! Just a tip don’t follow your kids up the path while it’s raining stick to the stairs...unless your up to a mucky mess!!!
Great view point to see the beautiful harbour. Has a lovely feel to it. The castle has been well restored
