Love the relaxed atmosphere at this little theatre. Excellent non-fussy buffet, with polite and attentive young waiting staff. First rate acting in the Whodunnit play. Great to be able to park on site and have a bar for drinks before/after too. An excellent 'treat' outing with friends/family.
The buffet was great plenty of choice I had the beaf pie and wife had chicken curry all very nice. And the show was great House on Cold hill. Very interesting end
Excellent play ‘Barefoot in the Park’ and very good lunch included. Recommended.
Top Hat was simply outstanding. Better than the West end! Amazing cast and such fun.Food: 4/5
Once again we were back at this charming and historic Grade II listed place of entertainment after a break of almost two years. The experience was enjoyable to watch Top Hat musical matinee with extremely well served and delicious buffet lunch. The service was great and staffs very helpful and efficient. It’s well managed and well organised place. The car park is small but probably tight for the 215 seat theatre when fully sold. The road surface in the car park could do with some maintenance and remedial work - the potholes do get flooded though during the rainy season! However, the management deserve congratulations on having such a wonderful team of staffs all round, especially in the restaurant and behind the bar.
Hadn't been here for years but came this time with a coach group to see a play with lunch booked before the performance... It didn't disappoint, the atmosphere of the place is lovely anyway what with being Riverside, the old wooden beams, the quirky shaping of the building & plush but understated decor done sympathetically to match. Even the bathrooms with their copper basins & black mixer taps were beautiful, spotlessly clean, elegant yet somehow cozy! The food was delicious & cooked to perfection... I had the fish, part of a buffet style, serve yourself, selection but the staff were on hand to help & were very attentive without being overly so. The deserts were generous portions, whether sweet or savoury, so bear that in mind when ordering P.s the play was of an equal standard to the setting, polished yet comforting performances in a lovely intimate semi- circular theatre.
I am so shocked at the poor reviews fortunately the good ones stand out. One saying, if you eat in good restaurants! This will be disappointIng. This made me write a review. I have visited Sonning around 4 times now and can not fault it. The food, the staff, the theatre itself and the price is amazing for what you get. The staff have always been lovely . Yes, it’s not “The Ivy” for example, I too have been to top quality restaurants ! But, this is a theatre deal that is brilliant for the price. Keep it up Sonning ! AMAZING
Haven't been here for several years & the food although ok is definitely not as it was. The so called skin on roast potatoes r more like new potatoes that have been boiled & tossed in oil. Not the least bit crispy like a toasties should be & only 1 type of potato offered. Show was very good as everFood: 3/5
We took my son & daughter-in-law to the Mill to see Barefoot In The Park, a comedy by Neil Simon. We started with a delicious two-course meal & coffeeall included in the ticket price. Then experienced some wonderful acting in a truly intimate setting of a working watermill. Great experience .
Fantastic production of Top Hat in a wonderfully intimate setting. I couldn't fault the theatre experience. Food was nice enough. Not haut cuisine, but not trying to be. Limited options for vegetarians. I would highly recommend a visit.Food: 3/5
