Review is for the restaurant. We were basically lost driving in complete darkness around the area, trying to find something to eat, when we stumbled across this place. We were very pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the people who work at the inn were and how beautiful it was inside, including a giant garden with lots of space and warm blankets provided. Inside the pub we sat by the fireplace and had some great drinks. Bloody Mary was particularly good, quite perfectly made. Food was really impressive as well, we ordered a lot of different things as they all were very great. My favourite were soup of the day and the camembert cheese starter. Service was fast and polite. Would love to visit again during warmer days.
Beautiful room. Warm and welcoming, fresh flowers everywhere even in January! Enormous and very good breakfast. A pretty dining room with lots of pictures, books to borrow, interesting and excellent food. We hope to come back.Rooms: 5/5
A wonderful few days to celebrate a birthday was spent in this not to be missed hostelry. A most excellent host and attentive but not intrusive staff. The menu choice was superb and cooked to perfection. Rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy. We can't wait to return in 2023....
We visited the Maytime Inn on a hot August afternoon. So we sat outside. There was plenty of seating and pleasantly laid out. I ordered a Traditional Ale which i was not very impressed by its taste. My wife enjoyed her lemonade though. One point to note if you have younger children, we noticed a lot of wasps about, some tables had wasp killer bottles on them. Be aware of this possible danger.
Lovely pub, everything you would want from a Sunday lunch at a country pub! Super efficient staff, chilled atmosphere, shout out to Joseph and also the lady with blonde hair and nice blue patterned shirt! The lit fire outside was a nice touch too!Service: 5/5
My son's wife's parents are visiting from Korea and we stopped off from a day out for a evening meal and drinks. Lovely venue, inside and out. We all really enjoyed our meals, lovely staff and the venue.Service: 5/5
We never stayed over so I can't talk about the rooms. I took mum-in-law to have a small meal. The service was excellent, with the young waiter on day 3 of his time there going above and beyond. Mum feels the cold and he kindly put extra logs on the woodburner. I love a Guinness on tap but they don't have, however he allowed me to taste an Amarula based equivalent before we ordered drinks. For food we shared a game scotch egg, it was tasty and cooked to perfection with a just crisp exterior but raw yolk. It tasted divine. Mym has a really small appetite these days but she managed her half of egg and the side of chips we ordered. Customer service and quality are at the heart of this place. The current manager is working hard and her magic touch is paying off. This will become our new 'local", it is about 20 minutes from home. Yummy. My photo shows more mum than food, so no picture.
Sunday lunch came highly recommended online so we decided to drive the 45 mins in the opposite direction we needed to go to give it a try. I'd say it was ok as roast dinners go, your standard pub lunch offering really. The venue and service were great, just disappointed by the food especially considering the price point.Service: 5/5
A long drive down windy dark narrow roads leads you to this run down, dingy establishment. I was told this was owned by Daylesford, so figured it would be another gem, like all their establishments. We were very mistaken. The service staff if you can call them that are all wearing their street clothes, and their attitudes matched the outfits. Like they weren’t at work. Didn’t check on you, where not helpful, good luck asking for a refill or condiment, for us it never came. Then the real crime was the Boar Burger. The tiny 3oz patty sat on a massive bun. It was so bad it was almost laughable. After 15 minutes waiting to speak to a server we literally had to get up and walk to the bar to hunt someone down. When I said the patty was far too small, they said .. that’s how our burgers are here. This place was so bad I was angry at the person who recommended it. Since this place looks like it’s from the dark ages, I find it fitting to say; avoid it like the plague.
Lovely Inn and location. We visited the Maytime a few weeks ago due to the Sunday Roast being highly recommended. We managed to book a midday slot. The roast was sadly a bit of a let down. After ordering it was on our table within 10 mins which is a bit of a worry - I appreciate you need to be prepared with a busy roast but to be in and out in 45 mins felt a bit too rushed. Aside from the timing the food was good but nothing to write home about. Service was very friendly however.
