We got married here and we came back ten years later. Some areas of the hotel have been refurbished and it all looked great. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful, we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in the suite and when we explained we didn’t drink they promptly swapped it for a discount against our dinner which was a lovely touch. The rooms are beautiful all extremely well equipped. We didn’t like the app they now use to order room service at all, but I’m keeping it to five stars because everything else was flawless and the staff are all just fantastic.
What a fabulous afternoon tea I enjoyed here with my mother after a long ramble round Mortimer. At the time we went the cakes were Jubilee themed, and such lovely attention to detail. I booked through afternoontea.co.uk which is worth checking if the venues own websites say they are fully booked - they are not - we were one of only three tables in fact. Such a beautiful setting too for many special occasions.
Amazing place ,the staff were very friendly ,the room was really clean and the food was amazing. I would definitely stay here again
Went for afternoon tea with a group of friends. We went when there was an offer on, but even the full price is great value for money with what you get and compared to other places around Reading. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent, and they catered for different dietary needs.
We organised a work event for 75 people and were disappointed by the absolutely terrible customer service. The person at reception had absolutely no knowledge about the restaurants and couldn't even tell us where breakfast would be. Then, we were given a room above the wedding venue without being told this and had very loud music until midnight, while we had to get up early the next day. During the day, we ordered lunch to the room at 12pm. After 1.5 hours! the food still hadn't arrived. Called the service desk who'd promise to chase the order and call us back. Around 2 pm we still hadn't heard anything or received our food. Cancelled the order and expressed how unsatisfied we'd been with the service so far, but the only response given was 'ok, shall I cancel your order then?'. We also asked for late checkout and were told this wasn't an issue. Later we were suddenly told it wasn't possible after all. The mansion, grounds and rooms are very nice, but without decent customer service they're meaningless.
Very happy with our stay, hotel room was clean , staff were very friendly, food was great , grounds look amazing great value for money
Currently staying in the hotel, had to wait over an hour to check into our room as it wasn’t ready, after travelling 2 hours not ideal…. Then onto room service, food come cold I’m usually quite forgiving but this was cold, after calling down to reception to report this was left 20 minutes without a call back with a resolution, on the 2nd call was told the kitchen was closed and was unable to do anything, no apology no acknowledgement at all, paid over 65 pound for 2 mains and 2 desserts that ultimately we had the option to eat cold or leave, which one of the 2 of us decided to do….Would not dream of coming back here, looks are deceiving unfortunately this is definitely a sheep In wolves clothing.
We had a lovely stay here. The peace and quiet was just what we needed for our "mini honeymoon" break, after we got married. We did have a few minor issues with our room but the staff were attentive and helpful in helping us rectify the issues. I very much enjoyed the breakfast that was provided too, delicious bacon and sausages.
Lovely decor and nice hotel room. They also serve some great food too, really enjoyed my stay.
Extremely beautiful surroundings...just an hour drive from London. Rooms are big with magnificent garden views and the food is excellent. Will definitely visit again.
