The location, bar area and restaurant area are all very nice. The menu had a good selection, including vegetarian options. The food itself was very good, I liked that the deserts were not too sickly sweet. All of the food was presented well. We had a great meal, would have been 5stars except for one thing. Before visiting we checked the website, quite clearly at the top of the front page it says 'dogs welcome', however when we were shown to the table we booked we were told, no dogs in the restaurant. Not a huge problem but the manner and tone of this particular member of staff was not very friendly or understanding, simply repeating 'no dogs in the restaurant' and not allowing us to explain that the website had led us to believe otherwise. A bad start to the meal but fortunately all the other staff were great as was the overall experience. Perhaps the dog policy could be made clearer online to avoid embarrassing future guests.

Lovely place in a beautiful location. Always busy but staff are very friendly and efficient. Great place for a pint after a long walk.

Called in on spec at lunchtime after a 10 mile walk over the hills. Full bar (always a good sign)but found a table and had a really good couple of bar meals. Wye Valley beers on draught too which made the walk back that much easier! Friendly and helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere. Will be back very soon.

Nice place. We have used it as a watering hole while walking the hills, for many years. Good selection of beer. However they do not cater for walkers. Asking people to remove their boots, when an easily wipable floor in the bar would be better. Patio heaters outside would also make a cold day and a drink outside more bearable.

Brilliant, will definitely be back. Stayed for 2 nights and the room was Lovely, clean and spacious. The food was brilliant and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The only downside was the walls were very thin, we could hear every word!
