A nice peaceful walk away from the busy tourists spots of Portree. Great views of the harbor and the iconic houses of different colors. Well worth the stroll, though the entrance can be a little tricky to find if you’re not familiar with the area.
The Lump is just behind the harbour. Delightful walk around the edge of it, giving good views out to sea. This place is also the venue for the Isle of Skye Highland Games. There is also a small tower that you can go up free. Definitely worth visiting The Lump.
We found the Lump while searching for someplace for the husband's morning run. Road running in Scotland can be interesting as shoulders on the roads are often non-existent, and many drivers seem unaccustomed to runners. So the Lump was a welcome find.nnIt is a serene and fairly large park, offering stunning views from the walking paths around it but also from a modern tower that has a circular stairway. It goes up maybe 20 feet, something like that, and the rather small windows do allow for a couple of nice pix.nnThe Lump is a favourite for dog walkers, many of whom unleash their dogs once they reach the large flat grassy areas where the Highland Games are held annually. i can only imagine how crowded it would be then!
Amazing little place just a short walk from the main street. Beautiful views and scenery from the green, and the small Tower behind the trees which is easy to climb with the spiral staircase.
A short peaceful walk in nature, surrounded by wildlife and the beauty of the isle of Skye. A must when visiting Portree.
