Pros: Great location, the staff was super polite, it is cheaper compared to the nearby places. The room was clean. Cons: Might be noisy as it is above a pub our room was on the last floor so that was not a problem, the room is very basic and needs renovation. The electric kettle was not working as some idiot tried to boil milk in it. Overall it is OK for one or two nights stay.
The hotel's stuff were very nice and friendly I am feeling bad leaving this review... but You couldn't sleep here! With my couple we stayed one night and I'm glad it was not more than that because you can not sleep over a pub. Apparently the pub people have no relation to the hostel and they are rude when you ask for the rooms. After 6 o'clock in the evening the party starts in the pub with the very loud music that vibrates all the rooms above the pub. The noise ends at 2 am. so I do not recommend it if you want to rest. WIFI dosen't work. The room was hot so I decided to turn on the ceiling fan, without realizing that they were full of dust!
Cheap but not very cheerful I'm afraid. 10min wait to check in as the bar staff are "bar staff" and not hotel reception so you have to wait for someone to come from another location to give you a room key. Live music from the pub below wasn't really an issue and stopped around 10pm but if you book a pub hotel you can't expect tranquil surroundings. The room was very tired and in need of update, it wasn't dirty but again it wasn't very clean either, room was freezing and I swear it was warmer outside due to no heating or means of adjusting the radiator as the Valve controls were broken, the main issue is with the cramped mouldy bathroom. Taking a shower was time restricted as the water didn't drain away so had to jump out before it over flowed from the shower tray, also taking shower standing in three inches of your dirty water wasn't too appealing either. OK for one night at a push but don't expect any luxury.
Awesome little hotel above a pub in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Great distance to amazing food and bars and just a short walk to transport and the city centre. The rooms are immaculate; clean comfy beds and a nice hot shower. The music from the pub downstairs is pretty invasive but it stops around midnight. Really nice room in an awesome spot for a decent price, definitely recommend.
The hotel room from hell Room very small right above a very loud bar with very poor Elvis impersonators. Bed was boxed in on 3 sides And floor was unlevel and slanted. Not very clean room and bathroom Toilet tight against wall ..so shower door could open with dirty old carpet to stand on Plus no lock on door . Worse was there was NO HEATING in room was 9 °C what so ever and the promises from staff and manager to fix and put on after 5 calls amounted to nothing Place should be close for good .
One star is generous. Room was tiny, dirty and cold/damp. Smashed tiles in bathroom, dirty walls and floor, the kind of carpet that you put your shoes on when you come in to stop your feet getting dirty. On top of that, holes in the walls, one channel working on the tiny television, and horrendously noisy from the drunken rowdy crowd that the pub downstairs was packed with.i normally love staying in pubs, but not this one.
Really wasn't worth £80/night. Black mould in bathroom, electric sockets hung on with an inch of their lives, rust on fixtures and holes in wall with no attempt to cover these up. I appreciate you get what you pay for however I would expect a little better condition for £80/night. Staff were friendly.
No staff on the premises to deal with any issues that may arise. Our room was not checked properly when it was made up,which lead to us having to find another hotel at 2am because our mattress was wet through. Poor house keeping. The pub downstairs has nothing to do with the "hotel" . I would not recommend staying here based on our own experience
Room was quite small but good value for the price and the room was clean! Above a pub so it's not the quietest but a great bed to crash in after a gig etc
Turned up at 1pm and informed to come back at 2pm to only be informed that it would be another 20 mins until someone turned up who works for the hotel. rooms are really messy and mold in them and for £60 a night was like being robbed music went on till 2 am .....
