Third visit here and I must say it’s been consistently poor. I felt the last time I went it may have been a one off, however today confirmed it really is just poor service. Just like the last time we waited an age about 15 minutes before we had to go up to the bar area for attention or acknowledgement. It wasn’t even that busy with only a few tables taken.nI won’t risk it again.
After our 3rd visit here it was a shame to say the service has still not improved. Luckily food has always been good which is why we came back in hopes the service would have matched the food… sadly it didn’t. We came in for breakfast, was not greeted at the door after several members of staff walking past us with out acknowledging us, we found our own seat. Again not one of the staff even looked at us so I went up to the bar to order our drinks and food after being at there for nearly 20 minutes. I was then quiet rudely told that breakfast had finished at 11 although no staff told us this nor was it on the menu when I said ok no problem and turn round to leave the bar lady continued to shout across the bar at me that breakfast was only until 11 and has always been 11 with no option of being provided with a drink or a lunch time menu. Of course we left.nIt’s such a shame that the lack of service has again ruined our experience at the lion and swan. I can’t even blame the fact it was busy as there was only a handful of tables taken up. Maybe more staff is needed or staff training.
Such a gorgeous place. Stunning decor and very cheerful inside, with plenty of colour. The cappuccino is the best I have ever had in my life. Breakfast was delicious with great-quality ingredients and abundant portions. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.nI'll definitely visit again when I am in the area.
Went here for breakfast. Excellent eggs royale and a lovely latte with a chocolate on the side. Friendly staff. Can plug your laptop / phone in. There's an upper area with big sofas. Just be aware they don't serve food between 11-12.
I booked the Lion & Swan as my parents had their marriage reception there and it was my late Mum's Wake, so felt obliged to choose it.nI wasn't disappointed. Excellent food for the buffet afternoon tea for 20 we booked. Several people mentioned the salmon sandwiches were well filled. Staff were excellent and a generous area was reserved for us, however they could've been slightly more proactive putting the food out and providing napkins with the cutlery without request and the jam and cream for the scones at the same time as the rest of the food.nAlso after making the provisional booking in person because I couldn't get through to the events manager I was supposed to receive a phone call from the events manager to finalise things, but this never happened, despite me leaving messages more than once, so I had to visit in person to do this.nI thought it was great value for money and would highly recommend the Lion & Swan for such an event.
