I was the winner of a competition to win 20 pints, during the annual beer festival that they held this weekend. I was delighted with the news, and brought my family down to appreciate it in their beer garden. We were greeted very nicely, And generally had very good service. I was welcomed by the owner, who was a helpful and very friendly gentleman. There was a wide range of beer and cider to sample, And we had a great time. The food was very good. And in particular the roast chicken was brilliant. The meat fell off the bone beautifully. Only one small! Niggle was that the waitress seemed to struggle with our big order 7 of us and didn't write anything down, So we did have some issues with what arrived at our table. This was rectified on the bill and so was fine. Otherwise we had a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend
A very nice large pub hidden away in a side street. The staff were super friendly and the food well cooked but the drinks were a little toppy
EXCELLENT FOOD! Standard drinks options at normal London prices, but the food was fantastic! We had Sunday roast for three and it was delicious and there was more than enough food. Our vegetarians had some good options: the veggie"fish and chips" was fantastic. They do offer a full vegetarian "roast dinner " but you have to book it 48hrs in advance and we only booked the day before.
I really like this pub for its ambiance and delightful staff. There’s a nice enclosed outdoor area at the back and the decor is understated. The chef is great, helpful and adaptable - he does a super gluten free fish and chips, which there’s an extra wait for but it’s well worth it.
This pub has potential to be. a great success. It is situated in a quiet residential road so it is unlikely to become a haven for youngsters. This is re-enforced by the price of drinks which are above other local prices. The pub does not seem to advertise that they show rugby or cricket. In all I enjoyed the experience but very few people were in there when I visited.
Very disappointed experience here today!! We booked a table before hand for drinks and food @5pm but we turned earlier @4pm We were six. The pubs was empty - literally! And they sat down us at the back where the heating was off . I did asked the manager three times , please let’s sit in one of this empty tables per sure we will leave before the football kick off . He insisted was not possible , no tables available . Absolutely ridiculous! After an hour an a half they decided a table was available next to the toilets . Anyway, we took it , it was bloody cold . Food average and I don’t think we will go back there . It’s a shame local pubs don’t care about local customers.
We had a fab roast here today! They were really accommodating for the children and the roast was amazing, really tasty, lots of food and they are doing 25% off in sept which was a bonus. Really impressed that the chef came out to discuss out kids' food intolerance and worked around it to give a safe and yummy meal for them. Highly recommend!
Went to the pub on Xmas eve at 5.30pm and it was closed.. Last time I was here on Bank Holiday, we were told to leave as they had no staff :/ Shame as its a nice pub when it's open!
We had not been to the pub for a long time after the various changes in ownership. I'm glad we tried again: the Sunday lunch is excellent, the service very attentive and professional. For those who have not been in a long time, try again. You can see the team is really trying to change things around and they are succeeding: we had the best Sunday pub lunch we've had in years.
My favourite pub! So lucky to have this on our doorstep. Food is amazing and a great selection of drinks. Such a friendly group working there! Highly recommend
