I went to a family wedding here between Christmas and New Year. Oh my word.. it didn't disappoint! The hotel rooms are gorgeous.. the shower was amazing and comfortable bed with heating and air con you could control. The wedding area was stunning and the food and service was perfect. Thoroughly recommend for a wedding venue and for guests to stay. The bridal suite is very plush too!
Outstanding as always. Came here to celebrate a birthday and we weren't disappointed. They don't take bookings at the weekend so you just rock up and have a drink at the bar until your table is ready. We waited just over half an hour for a table for six on a Saturday night, so not that bad. Food was excellent. Serving seasonal dishes from a specials board or usual pub favourites from the main menu. I welcomed the start of autumn with rabbit casserole which was hot, tasty and filling while my daughter tucked into a massive beef pie. Huge selection of puddings to really round off an excellent meal. An absolute must try.
We had a Family 3 course meal together at this lovely venue where the staff were so friendly, helpful, professional and welcoming. The food was of very good quality, absolutely delicious, good portion sizes and presented so well. Absolutely good value for the price we paid. We had a lovely time together celebrating and will definitely come back again! Fully recommend the Lion Inn. Thank you so much the Lion Inn.
Had our staff meal here on Friday. 18 of us. All excellent food - lots of very tempting choices and catered for vegan and gluten free staff needs. Excellent service and good speed and accuracy despite the huge orders. I personally had the pulled pork and cheese croquette with a mustard sauce, followed by sea bass and salmon, both of which were amazing! Also had the sticky toffee pudding but did struggle to eat it as was already full and it was quite a heavy choice! Definitely must go back here more often. Dietary restrictions: Did well for gluten free and vegan options
We hosted a birthday party dinner for 32 people in their private room. Service was blitzkrieg quick, friendly and informal. Food was great, atmosphere very good. Room was lovely and the perfect size. Price was good, just under £2k for food and wine/prosecco. Wheelchair accessibility: Good wheelchair accessibility
My first visit to this lovely Restaurant and Hotel. The Food was really nice and the staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was good and the tables spaced well. You can book a table every day apart from Saturday night. However we went on a Saturday and despite being busy we were given a table straight away. Thoroughly recommended! Parking: Excellent for Parking
Can't quite put my finger on it but, the lion has lost some of its magic and attention to detail over a few recent visits . Since lockdown some of the theatre has gone too, the food and service has been good, not exceptional, the specials were printed on some kind of food "food paper" at an angle as if it has slipped in the printer. Part of the fun was going and reading the specials board, then ordering for the table at the bar. very limited choice for afternoon's not a full menu. All said and done I will still come back, its a good restaurant with wonderful food, just feels like changes have not been for the best
Went for an office Christmas meal. Food was excellent considering how many were being catered for. Organisation staff knew their stuff and were very helpful. Nice pace of meal...not rushed at all. DJ did a good job, judged the crowd well and managed to avoid the usual flat-spots.
Great stay overnight whilst on business. We enjoyed the food at dinner, and a great selection of breakfast options. Karen was fantastic, and permitted us a quiet corner for a business meeting, despite it being outside the service area, due to commercial sensitivities. Will definitely return.
Food was good. The restaurant was busy which made it noisy. Service was prompt and attentive. Typical "pub" menu at reasonable prices. Excellent disabled toilet: hot water and liquid soap.Food: 4/5
