I would give 0 stars if I could, very very disappointed. My Muslim friend and her mother attended a good friend’s wedding, which is meant to be a happy and welcoming event at this religious establishment. However, when they attempted to privately pray, they were met with shocking discrimination. They were told, “Who said you can pray here?” and directed to either pray in the toilet or in their car. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable, especially in a place of worship. It’s disheartening to witness such lack of respect and hospitality and I would not recommend this venue to anyone looking for an inclusive and welcoming environment. It is unfortunate that zero accountability has been taken.
Whilst attending my friend's event, my friend went to pray and was met by very hostile members of the Church who told her that she was not welcome to pray here and she can go to her car or the toilets. The event was not being held in the Church but she was still discriminated against and told her faith was not welcome here. Although this was during an event at the conference centre, it was the Church staff who felt the need to prevent our friend from practising her own faith and the centre should not allow events for people of different faiths if their staff cannot accept this.
I used to be a regular attendee of this church, but I stopped after witnessing how my Muslim friend was treated at a party. Right before my eyes, she was kicked out of the venue for simply trying to take five minutes to pray in the corner of a room. Not only did conference the manager fail to investigate this incident but he also allowed his staff to deny the clear discrimination they inflicted on my friend. They even lied in the house of God. I now question the integrity of the staff and management behind this embarrassing organization. My family and I are more than happy to take our worship and support elsewhere, where the Christian faith is practiced with true respect and sincerity.
One of my Muslim friends has recently had a disappointing experience at this church during a wedding. She went to pray in a designated room and was repeatedly told by two different people to go pray elsewhere, like the bathroom or her car. This treatment left her feeling disrespected, humiliated, and completely embarrassed. I can't recommend this place based on her experience, and I feel ashamed that such behavior occurred in a place meant for worship and reflection. It's important for churches to create a welcoming and respectful environment for all, and unfortunately this church did not provide that.
Although a place of worship which seemingly is welcome to people of different faith, race and background, this church is completely the opposite. My friend was subjected to religious hostility by several members of staff as she attempted to pray in a spare room whilst attending a function. The staff involved demanded she pray in the toilet or her car and violated her rights to observe her religion. If you are non-Christian and will be attending The Lighthouse, please be aware that this church is non-tolerant of other religions and staff members will harass you and deny you your right to practice your faith in a place of worship.
