The Library at Willesden Green

Story

Willesden Green Library Centre is a public library complex situated in Willesden Green, London, United Kingdom. The centre includes a public library, operated by Brent Council, a cinema and (formerly) an independent bookshop named The Willesden Bookshop. The Willesden Bookshop was forced to move to a new location as part of the proposed regeneration project.Proposed RegenerationIn February 2012 Brent Council announced a proposed regeneration project for the Willesden Green Library Centre. The regenerated centre would be renamed as 'Willesden Green Cultural Centre'. Following the closure of six other libraries within the London Borough of Brent, the intention of this regeneration was to enable the library to sufficiently meet the increased demand for library space within Brent. This proposal was considered controversial by some local residents. Following consultation and petitions the designs for the regenerated centre have been amended to ensure the old Victorian library is retained.

This is as good as it gets for a modern public library in a modern London. The facilities on offer are vast and wide coveting the remit of community-based hub. With this in mind don't expect quiet. There is a quiet room on the second floor but note the absence of Chrome as browser on the computers for hire. Really...a good service provider.

It's a very noisy library! There are people arguing on the phone and nobody says anything, teenagers shouting, playing cards... It's more like a social place than a library

After 17 years.. I came here today. It's a bit confusing. Has changed quite a bit. No cinema etc.. weird layout. Theres a muesuem /exhibition which is nice. It seems very public and there are some people just hanging around- which is bizzare and some people are loud or glued to their phones. This is not how libraries use to be. The library card now is so weird and cheap looking .. so is the application method and the staff don't tell u how this library operates. I had to see myself.. The process of taking book out (you have to use computer system, I think ). I even asked staff but she wasn't really bothered and the machine was weird.. so she ended up having to serve me and using her system lol. Can't believe how laid back they are. The black, bald, short security guard is always tryna chat women up n stare. Very uncomfortable! Not like how Brent libraries use to be.. libraries seems to have changed . It is modern. But must say it is ok and they have toilet facilities on 2nd floor and downstairs for people to use. The quieter parts of library is the 2nd floor 👌

It is really amazing library, well trained staff and clean public library. They should ask people to stop calling in the library coz the noise disturbs other who are concentrated.

Great improvement to the newly opened WIllesden Library altogether!! Great beautiful, well-lit spaces with not a lot of noise!!! It would be great if all socket points were made live because, as it is already, there is a shortage of socket points in the general/open floor space and walls. On all but the ground floor (...which essentially belong to infants), this is an issue.
