Just under 3 and a half hours of heaven... Not everyday can you treat yourself to such a level of taste. But I missed it so much and it was a pure bliss of pleasure. Recommended it? Without any doubts, be ready for perfection. Expansive? Yes of course but, for the amount and the quality and the pleasure felt.....not expensive at all... Thank you to all involved in this special evening.
The Latymer at Pennyhill Park is one of the main reasons we choose to regularly stay at the Hotel. The restaurant has been one of our favourite Michelin destinations for a number of years and we cannot recommend highly enough the Tasting Menu whether for lunch or dinner.
One of my favorite Michelin experiences! Highly recommended. Fantastic food, ambience and service
By far the best Michelin restaurant I’ve been too. The food was absolutely exquisite, beautifully presented and delicious. My 2 least favourite foods, were my favourite there! Steve even took the time out to speak to us - what a gentleman, so humble and clearly loves his job. I would also like to give a special mention to Jose - our waiter - professional, friendly, attentive and couldn’t do enough for us - by far the best waiter I have ever met.
We visited for the tasting lunch as a group of four. When we arrived at Pennyhill we were early so asked to go for pre dinner drinks. We were directed to the bar, rather than walked through. We had to physically move chairs to the table we wanted to sit at ourselves as there weren’t enough. We had to ask for the drinks menu then had to ask for someone to take our order. No one offered to take our jackets. Drinks then took so long that we asked for them to be brought straight to the restaurant. Once we were in Latymer it was a different story as the service was great and food was lavish. Overall it just lacked the little courtesies that warrant a four or five star rating. The hotel left the restaurant lacking.
There's a reason this place has a Michelin star, and it lives up to the hype. Absolutely delicious food, impeccable service and wine matching to support was perfect throughout. I had the vegetarian options whilst my partner had non-seafood, all of which was catered to with no fuss. We wondered if there was going to be enough food, given the sizes of the dishes but actually both left feeling completely full. Word of warning: this might have been due to the mid-meal bread offering, but I wasn't complaining given the butter herb infused or not! was unbelievable. The wine pairing was great and you could tell the sommeliers were knowledgeable and entirely passionate. At about £130pp plus £95pp for wine pairing, this isn't a cheap night, but if you act as though this is a delicious treat you won't be disappointed at all. Special shout out to Saroshe think that's how you spell his name! as our attentive, funny, knowledgeable and incredibly professional waiter - thank you for ensuring our evening was special! Vegetarian options: From cauliflower fungi to beetroot, truffle and artichokes, you're not going to be disappointed. I didn't feel short changed versus the meat options.
Having enjoyed the latymer on several occasions previously, we were intrigued to see what it would be like under new head chef Steve Smith. In short, it did not disappoint at all and was a fantastic meal. Just from the quality of the amuse bouche the cheese and truffle balls were to die for and the bread, you could tell we were in for a treat. Menu wise there is a great a la carte option where you can go for up to 4 courses or else there is the full tasting menu too. We opted for the 4 courses and they were all absolutely delicious - the scallop dish was probably one of the best scallop dishes I’ve ever had, and the strawberry dessert was so inventive too. Service was attentive, friendly, and on point the entire meal. Overall one of the best fine dining places I’ve been for a while and would be shocked if their Michelin star wasn’t affirmed again in the next guide if our experience is anything to go by. Definitely worth a visit whether you’re staying in the hotel or not. 18/20
One of the best meals we’ve ever had, I’d highly recommend coming here for a special occasion. They catered to all our dietary requirements beautifully. Every course of the tasting menu was delightful and it was surprisingly good value for the amount of excellent quality food you get. We tried to capture how the food was presented like art, sometimes too elegant to eat... Just perfection!
We have been to the Latymer on several occasions now, and have never had a bad experience here. The cooking is beautifully innovative - delicious and elegant and always a new twist every time we go. Service is impeccable - warm, friendly and welcoming, without being stifling. There's a lovely little touch of sending a member of the kitchen brigade out with your amuse bouches which I feel really puts a personal spin on the meal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and can't wait till the kids are old enough so we can bring them!
I can't believe there's only two of us here who has actually reviewed this place. First of all, 5 stars. The meal, the staff and ambience. Attention to detail on taste and presentation of food is incredible. It was really of the staff for preparing my man a written happy birthday card. He really enjoyed it. We went for the 5 course meal and regretted not doing the 7 course. If we do go back, we'll definitely try it with wine pairing. It's worth it.
