A classic Spoons and a regular in the Good Beer Guide which must surely double up as a waiting room for Gilmour Street station. Set on two levels - who’d have thought the toilets would be situated on the ground floor? The usual friendly efficient staff pouring well kept cask ales.
Went in tonight for something to eat and a few beers. Had the steak seeing it is Tuesday steak night. Everything on plate was good except cold mushroom. Ordered steak medium rare and that’s how it came. Had the egg and black pudding as extras which were fine. Overall not too bad for pub grub. Beer the usually good selection at cheap prices which is great.nCoffee out of machine is Luke warm. Although taste is good they need to turn up heat on machine !!!!!!nNo stirrers to stir coffee had to use a straw!nStaff good as usual.nFire alarm or something went off but no one came to tell customers what it was!!!!!!!nOverall place is drab and dark. Needs a refit to be honest.nWill go back for cheap booze but certainly not the atmosphere of which there is none!!!it’s a totally boring pub.
Came here for a few drinks with friends and family and got I’d 3 times since I have been here I am 21 and the service I got was absolutely shocking. The table was disgusting and when we get our drinks they just sit the tray down and not take any glasses away and they don’t say anything.

Great place for a breakfast and never ending coffee for around £6 all in. Their sausages have won awards, so it's not all generic low value food. Wetherspoons do what they do and they do it well. Their places are always clean and fresh and their food and drink are reasonably priced and pretty damn good for all of that. This particular Spoons is a grand place and enormous with large upstairs. There is a disabled entry at the doors nearest to the train station but these are kept closed and locked. You need to press the doorbell on the left hand side of the doors and someone will come down to you and let you in.nTheir decaf coffee is the tastiest and smoothest, I have had anywhere in the world. Enjoy your visit, fairly responsibly! I had the vegetarian breakfast but swapped the veggie sausages for their real pork ones, as that combination suits me best. The staff are great and always extremely helpful with that sort of thing.
