Story

At The Lantern, we look to engage at a local and national level with the latest and greatest to foster a deep and diverse appreciation of creativity and performance.

The Lantern is owed by The Dilys Guite Players (DGP) who are also the in-house community theatre group. They ensure those with a passion for performance and production can develop and showcase their skills. The DGP produces four shows a year, and our annual New Writing Festival is a fantastic opportunity for writers to get their work performed on stage.

The Lantern is passionate about high quality, highly varied theatre, and is an exciting venue for professional touring shows. Having featured Tony and Olivier Award Winning acts on our stage, our reputation for offering unmissable theatre continues to grow.

Lovely little theatre, a great place to be close to the action and the beer at the bar is also excellent

Beautiful little place, only seats about 50 people. Has a great atmosphere, with helpful and friendly volunteers who run the venue and serve refreshments from a very well stocked bar. There are disabled facilities though only room for one wheelchair user. The facilities were clean and the venue is easily accessible. Parking is on street.

Little gem of a theatre. Reasonably priced bar too. No onsite parking, but ample in the nearby streets

Marvellous little theatre. Saw an incredible evening of short new plays - great comedies and some awesome creepy ones. Definitely worth visiting and supporting local arts!

Best Theatre in Sheffield. Saw lots of Great shows here- David Alnwick's mesmerising the signalman and his exploration and eye opening insights of Dracula. John shuttleworth and Agatha Christie's the unexpected guest was a wonderful family night  out.

Hamlet was amazing. Great venue aswell.

Building; Great disabled access and loo. Seating/auditorium; The viewing position is a bit odd if you need to stay in your wheelchair - the chair next to the wheelchair spot is raised too so yiur friends would be at a different height to you. If you can only transfer laterally, it wouldn't work, and I'd recommend booking an aisle seat further down towards the stage.

What an absolutely amazing theatre! We saw The Antics improv night here and the show was excellent, the staff were all very friendly and the theatre itself is absolutely magnificent. It's a tiny little place and it feels really intimate which just makes it even more magical, we'll definitely be back! Thanks for a brilliant evening!
