About

One of Sheffield's hidden gems

Story

At The Lantern, we look to engage at a local and national level with the latest and greatest to foster a deep and diverse appreciation of creativity and performance.

The Lantern is owed by The Dilys Guite Players (DGP) who are also the in-house community theatre group. They ensure those with a passion for performance and production can develop and showcase their skills. The DGP produces four shows a year, and our annual New Writing Festival is a fantastic opportunity for writers to get their work performed on stage.

The Lantern is passionate about high quality, highly varied theatre, and is an exciting venue for professional touring shows. Having featured Tony and Olivier Award Winning acts on our stage, our reputation for offering unmissable theatre continues to grow.

Absolutely fabulous. The acting, scene changes and thought put into this play was the best I have ever seen and I have seen plenty of amateur dramatics. A fast moving very very funny play - the 39 steps. Well done to all but particularly the actor's whose timings were spot on. What a lovely theartre as well.
Great wee place. Nice friendly staff
Went to see 39 steps as a comedy. It was very good. It's a great theatre with lots of character. Been here christmas for 5 years so part of a tradition now. Well worth booking a play.
Tiny cute little theatre, with some good small productions. Went to see 39 Strp and it was hilarious! Nice to support somewhere local and small.
Wonderful experience
Magnificent little gem. 90 seat theatre originally built as a folly.
Lovely Victorian theatre. Great atmosphere. Excellent show from Helen O'Grady's theatre club.
It's amazing, one of those hidden places with a magical feeling due to its history. Run by great volunteers that are very passionate. We got a free tour even though we got the schedule wrong. I've being told later they really need an grants writing expert to carry on more serious conservation work.
Amazing little theatre, it has a bar and can be hired out. Well worth a visit if you see something on you like the sound of :
