Visited with our family of eight for a Sunday lunch and all enjoyed the experience which is surprising considering how fussy some of us are. Each dish had something that was a little be special about it to make it memorable. Great range of beers and wines as well. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. If we are in the area again we would certainly eat there again.
I visited today for the first time. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. We chose the roast beef and roast pork. The food was delicious with beautifully cooked tender meat, fresh vegetables, roast potatoes and an enormous home cooked Yorkshire pudding, accompanied by a chopped vegetable sauce, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and a beetroot wedge. Everything on the plate was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend and at a great price.
Only ate didn't stay.nnParty of 7 incl 2 children for a 50yr anniversary meal on a Sunday. 3 were less than 5 minutes late. Restaurant and bar is newly furnished and is very nice, the outside area looks good too.nnOrdered drinks as soon as we all sat down, drinks came after a short wait. Ordered 3 starters and mains promptly, most ordered beef roast which was £21, we were asked if we wanted sauces and these came out straight away bit odd as they sat on the table for over an hour.nnStarters came out about 15 minutes later and were excellent.nnMains came out over an hour later, and as they arrived, we were beset with flies. I can understand that this is not something they can easily remedy but we seemed to be the only table suffering likely due to the position out of the air through flow as door and windows were open to reduce heat.nnThe fly's more than 10 constantly buzzing round and attempting to land on the food was obviously not great and put us all off our meals. A couple ate quickly some battled though and others left the food. One was ill while there and after,nnWe raised the flies with the staff who said there was nothing that could be done, the owner did come over and apologise which was nice and offered a glass or wine to an adult were driving or a dessert we just wanted to leave at this point and declined.nnRoasts - kids was large almost and adults’ portion Yorkshires had shredded meat in not a fan + one had the twine from the meat in toonnOtherwise, the roast was well presented if not amazing, and a little on the pricy side at £21 per head, the exception was the cauliflower cheese that was v goodnThe meals with 2 alcoholic drinks and some soft drinks came to over £180 and when I asked if there was any possibility of a discount we were told no as some of the party being late was the reason the main ways slow getting out and they can't control the flies. I can understand these points but we won't be revisiting.nnAreas for improvements - Communication, if we had had been made aware of the long wait we would have ordered a side for the kids. Service was a little slow we often needed to prompted waiting staff who were then attentive Stop the flies or offer to move outside and don't use the table / area.
Just back from Sunday lunch. Food was fantastic. Ambience was lovely. But what made it for me was the service despite being very busy the staff were attentive but not rushed and all were very friendly. Nicest experience of eating out for a very long time.
I can't Fault the staff, they were lovely. Unfortunately though we were sat at a table in the middle of the walkway even though the restaurant was empty and remained relatively empty the whole time we were there,nMy boyfriend and I both had the roast pork Sunday lunch, and im sad to say this was not as nice as I had been told it should be. The pork was very dry,the vegetables were almost raw still, and it seemed like a mish mash of bits they had left over in the kitchen, all in all I wouldn't say it was a very enjoyable meal.I would also say that having the coffee machinenin the restaurant whilst customers are eating is not the best idea as it's a very noisy thing and not want people want to hear whilst they are trying to enjoy their food.
