Great place to eat and have a drink. Food was plentiful, super tasty and a very reasonably priced. Also enjoyed all the 70s and 80s music playing. The pub and toilets were clean and the staff were very helpful and jovial. Also had a bowl full of every kind of sauce you can think of..
A decent pub that serves food on a saturday afternoon, not my first visit, or meal. I know it 's good, fantastic grub. Clean, tidy, warm and great place to take your friends. Staff are always friendly.
Staff were attentive, friendly and got the orders right. The food orders were tasty and portions were the right size. Even the crowd there was friendly people. The pub is placed a little off the beaten path, but this seems to have made it a place to be sought after. Is the presentation a little rough at the edges? Well it's a pub. It's not a posh restaurant, but it's relaxed, friendly, not heaving busy on the Thursday night when I went. The in house specials offer great value I had the beef chili with nachos and cheese, and I was pretty happy with it. If I could have tweaked it slightly, I would have put a touch more substantial salad to it maybe optional by request, as I know salad isn't for everyone . Parking though not huge, was ample for those there. Maybe when the place is at its busiest, there might be parking difficulty, but with a normal fullness, it seemed to cope. Would I go again? Yes!
This was my first trip to Atherstone and I was meeting with three relatives for the first time. The Kings Head website promised it to be an ideal place to meet for lunch with its garden by the canal and its freshly prepared food. It is actually very close to a noisy dual carriageway but this is screened by trees. The menu for Sunday lunch was on one sheet of paper. Two of us chose roast dinners and the other two chose the one vegetarian option. I would have liked fish and chips with a salad, but neither were on offer. The veggie option was a very small portion and really not value for money. I chose citron tart for pudding. This had obviously been taken out of a packet and defrosted. It did not taste fresh. My spoon no dessert fork was also wrapped in a damp paper napkin. The service was otherwise very good. The pub was clean but not very warm and felt rather damp, despite the warm and dry weather outside. Considering Sunday lunch time is usually very busy, it was rather telling that the pub was half empty.
Really nice pub. Food was high quality but could have been a little hotter. Prices are good and the staff were welcoming. Would certainly visit again.
Nice place with outside pool tabe, huts that you can sit & eat in & nice views. Every outside table has covering when required. I haven't tried the food yet or even seen the menu, but I will keep you informed. I have a feeling that it is probably OK, good or fantastic. I will keep you informed. I like it....a lot.
It's a really atmospheric pub, small inside but really nicely decorated; nice and cosy. The food was good, not mind blowing but what you'd expect from some hearty pub grub. We didn't sit outside, but there's a lovely canalside beer garden which I'm planning to spend some time in next Summer. The team were really friendly and accommodating, and I'll definitely be back again.
Lovely Saturday lunch destination, had a chicken wrap, so just a snack in the bar area had the dog with us. Still gave us table service though which was appreciated, very friendly vibe and staff! A must visit again place.
Booked a table for 7 of us after a long walk, what a win! All the waitresses were super attentive… we had drinks in no time! Our waitresses name was Suzy, honestly couldn’t fault her. Everyone’s meals were absolutely delicious especially the home made beef chilli nachos - picture is attached not to mention the scenery was beautiful right next to the canal and the atmosphere was lovely. Could not recommend this pub enough, whether it’s just a quick drink or a group meal. Will definitely be back if we are ever in the area!
Food was excellent and the staff really helpful i really enjoyed my visit today
