Stayed, eaten and drank here today. Food excellent value. NOT small portions the ladies beside us could not finish the sticky toffee pudding! Staff, at time of writing very good. Barman excellent. Beer really good but sadly no bottled beer to take away or even a mini keg. Why, I ask? The Brown ale was divine! Parking: Ignore sat nav and keep driving!
What a hidden gem! For a first time visit we thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the place and sitting, on a lovely evening, at an outside table enjoying fish and chips. Exciting to hear about the future plans for the pub. Service excellent. Definitely going to go back....Food: 5/5
Very disappointing Sunday Lunch. We were very surprised how quiet it was for a bank holiday weekend, that should have been a sign. I have eaten here previously a few years ago and it has gone downhill. The building is full of character but it's now very tired and grubby. The service was very quick and the staff were very friendly but the food was bland and tasteless. The mash was lumpy and for the price about £15 I expect better. It's a shame because it has such potential, great location and not many other options around.
Beautiful place and fantastic staff! Food was delicious and piping hot Corned beef pie was enormous and so full of filling. Children’s meal was enough to feed a small adult/ OAP with a smaller appetite. Highly recommend and will definitely be calling backFood: 5/5
Very warm welcome. Offered 2 course special menu and main menu. Opted for 2 course menu £8.95. Well worth the money. Tasty good size portions of food. Good selection to choose from. Would recommend.
Stayed overnight in some low level annex. The evening meal, nut roast was superb. The vegan cooked breakfast in the morning was overcooked and quite frankly, disgusting. Limited choice of cereal, cardboard packed in cardboard boxes with Kellogg's on the packet. Waste of £12. Vegetarian options: Very limited. Go for nut roast. Avoid breakfast.
Excellent pub/restaurant/brewery adjacent to a country park, the Hadrian's Wall trail, and river Tyne. Beers and food are both excellent, with friendly, helpful staff. Big outdoor drinking area too, which I have to say, needs cleaning up and refurbishment.Food: 5/5
Such a great place to stay on the Hadrian Wall walk. Ken and Karen and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Some aspects of accommodation need an update and wifi wasn’t working in our room but great phone signal so not an issue!!Food: 4/5
Stayed overnight. Info from staff was accurate for check in outside the normal time. Room was clean and tidy. Nicely warm in the cold weather. Breakfast was adequate. Friendly staff.
Nice spot expensive for what we got. Service was slow and I didn't get meals at the same time. Not the nicest of days didn't help.Food: 4/5
