Useless Trying to get an appointment is impossible I once phoned everyday for 2 weeks straight and got an automated response to hold the line for ages or call back later When you finally do get an appointment, it's for in a couple months time and the doctors pan you off saying the reason you are there is not an issue
Can never reach by phone always automated "call back later". When I finally got through, receptionist asks, "is it an emergency" and I responded honestly, "I don't know which is why I'm calling.." and she promptly hung up before I could finish. I had to call seven more times to get through. It turns out it was an emergency and I was admitted to hospital that morning. When you are in the practice the doctors and nurses are so patient and very caring. It is a shame they are let down by whatever forces prevent their reception staff from having the same courtesy. It is very distressing when an automated line says to call back later and it takes hours to get through. The online advice says the only alternatives are to call 999 or the NHS 111 line which also takes hours of waiting to speak to someone.
Really this should be Zero Stars but unfortunately I have to give at least 1 to post this review. I had some letters to hand in to reception for one of the doctors. Since the practice reception area is currently being refurnished, I spoke to the lady in the waiting room who told me to follow her to Room 9 to hand in the letters. Room 9 was being used as the reception area temporarily. The lady knocked on the door and we were greeted by a lady sitting in the chair on the computer and another lady standing near one of the file cabinets. They were chatting to each other and doing nothing else. I had several letters addressed to a specific doctor I didn’t have any a4 sized envelopes so there was quite a lot to hand in. The sheer amount of rudeness from the reception ladies was unreal. I struggled to explain to her that the letters were to be given straight to the doctor and she asked “are these to be scanned in to your notes or what?” in a very annoyed tone. I replied no they were to be given to the specific doctor to read over as it was information regarding a referral. I also apologised twice saying I didn’t have any a4 sized envelopes. I felt like I had done something wrong when all I did was hand in something to reception. I wasn’t reassured or anything just met with more annoyance. When I was leaving my partner saw the two ladies exchanging looks to one another, in a very judgemental way towards myself. I have handed in letters before and not had much bother but today I was taken very off guard. They made me feel very anxious and scared. It felt as if they were given me a row for asking them to do their job. The receptionist are “the face” of the practice and I never feel welcome when going in for appointments. Most of the time they are sitting around chatting, I can understand why it takes so long for them to answer the phone in the morning! I just came from the dentist prior, absolute night and day difference. Sunny smiley receptionist in the dentist….miserable rainy day receptionist in the doctors!!
Called to speak to a doctor, was told no more triage calls available so either wait till after 6pm and wait a few more hours with NHS24 or take the chance a duty doctor might be available later or wait till tomorrow. NHS24 won't speak to you during surgery hours, doctor won't speak to you during surgery hours, I know it's serious but not 999 serious. Where do I go if don't want to hear the same rehearsed "all our triage appointments are full" speech. This is why A&E is overrun with worried parents not able to get even basic care from the GP service. Now I have to decide how serious it is and if need to somehow get to Kirkcaldy with a sick child without calling an ambulance I don't drive or spending £50 one-way for a taxi.
Doctor Reek is absolutely amazing specialist. He is so kind and helpful all the time. I adore this doctor and always want to see him. Also the reception team is always friendly and very helpful. Thank you so much for your hard professional work !
Absolute waste of time. No face to face appointments unless doctor decides its worthy of one. Takes two weeks to get a call from doctor to see if you need an appointment unless its an emergency. A lot of things need dealt with however not all would be classed urgent enough for emergency appointment.. Attitutude of some reception staff is a disgrace. What happened to the caring proffession?
Spoke with DR Garmony today regarding an issue regarding my scalp. Explaining how anxious etc i was feeling about the issue he came out and said “ why not just grow your hair?” Very unprofessional and rude! I would like to make a complaint.
Terrible service, almost impossible to get thru on the phone Every time I put my repeat prescription in its forgotten about and nobody wants to sort the issue. Unless life threatening you will wait 4 to 6 weeks for an appointment.
My family have been under the care of this practice or over 20 years. The staff are always friendly and do their best to help. The Doctors and Nurses at the practice are excellent and do their best to help.
Been at the surgery since I moved back to Inverkeithing from Birmingham 4 years ago and I was with them before I moved to Birmingham in 2005 and I have always had great service from them
