A great local cafe to visit, with friendly staff and a nice selection of food. This cafe also offers 2 and 3 course meals with senior discount, which makes it a popular place to visit. There is a good selection of vegetarian dishes available, and a great range of drinks including milkshakes and soft drinks. We really enjoyed the vegetarian fish and chips Halloumi instead of fish. I look forward to visiting this place in the future.
Fantastic Gluten Free options. Never had one cafe/restaurant offered so many choices. Great tasting food. 100% would recommend this to everyone.
Had lunch here. Restaurant is cosy and nicely decorated. Pot of tea for 2 despite being in a nice brown earthenware teapot was only lukewarm. Chefs special was meat and potato pie and was not home made, as the type you buy from a bakers, ok for what it was but not what you expect for a special of the day. Other meal ordered was jacket potato which was a bit overcooked, the salad was very basic just rocket leaves and one small piece of tomato. Coleslaw was good. Toilets were unisex and as there were 2 don't understand why they aren't ladies and gents, preferable for obvious reasons.
Staff were pleasant. The fish and chips were very good & the cappuccino cake was delicious. Glad we booked a table as it gets very busy

Excellent food, definately the best burger ive had in a long time. Hand made patties make all the difference! Doggie friendly and they even have a dogs menu with bacon bits!
Visited yesterday and had a baked spud with a small amount of salad. Best spud I've tasted for a long time. Usually the skins have been tough but this one was spot on. Salad is another think with me very little greenery leaves which I cannot stand. Well done The Hydro. Lovely pleasant staff and it felt very relaxing. Reasonably priced food.
Wonderful GLUTEN FREE Fish and Chips and cappuccino cake. Loads of GF food and DELICIOUS. Come every time we come to Buxton. Great cafe, great food, reasonable prices. Love it.
It was a cold, wet afternoon, and The Hydro was a very welcome retreat from the weather. There was an extensive menu with some interesting and very tasty local offerings. There were also clever little touches like a small pair of scissors in among the condiment sachets - definitely preferable to trying to open them with my teeth.
