Large Portions, staff friendly and would recommend to anyone. We went on a Saturday night and the place was heaving, but the staff still smiled and helped create a good atmosphere. The Ribs were heaven and my Husband enjoyed his Bourbon Burger. The Bailey Milkshake was delicious. Only complaint I would give is that maybe there is to much on the plate and no room for desert after a starter and main. I've read other reviews and it's not £4.40 for a pint of coke, it's bottled coke and the waiter explained he would order two bottles which is well over a pint and comes in the funky glass bottle, helped me reminisce
As we were a large party we were asked to pre book our meals which we did . My meal which was average, the steak not cooked to my order the chips very salty arrived an hour and a half late. Some people had finished eating while I was still waiting. It was obvious they couldn't cope even though they new the size of the party. I also thought the drinks pricey. Would not recommend and will most definitely will not be returning.
Being a huge fan of slow cooked smokehouse, hearing that there was one nearby on a recent visit to family in St Helens it was a no brainer....let's get take out! When we called to order a take out delivery we were politely informed that they stopped doing that a while ago, to which we pointed out the website still stated it! "Oh yeah sorry that's not been updated". None the less we were keen for slow cooked meats so we will collect. Once back home we sat down to dive into the feast. The nachos starters had unfortunately "set" in the cheese and gone a bit soft we were only a 10 minute drive away but that can't be helped with take out sometimes. But the biggest let down was me trying something new and going for a Bratwurst.... It was dry and tasteless but thankfully I went for the one with pulled pork on top , which gave it some taste. Our other family members weren't too impressed with their food either and it was a shame as we thought it would be great judging by the looks of the restaurant itself.....although it was very very quiet for a Friday night! Maybe it was a bad night, we all have them, but I think it will be quite a while before we try them again.....if we ever do. Shame.
Waited at least 20 minutes before someone took our drinks orders. A further 10 minutes for food order. A further 1hr 30 for food to eventually arrive and they had forgotten one of the mealswhich was the same as two other meals we ordered! We left without eating as the wait was horrendous and we didn't want wait for the final meal which we weren't convinced would arrive! Staff were nice but seemed very inexperienced and didn't know how to handle the situation. Kitchen staff didn't seem to be doing anything, they seemed surprised that they had to cook food! Manager was brilliant but unfortunately he was let down by the kitchen staff on the night. The restaurant wasn't exactly busy either so I'd hate to see how the kitchen would handle a busy night... food did look nice when it arrived but we didn't want to wait for the last meal to come and just gave it up as a bad job. May try again in a few months, give them time to replace/ train the kitchen staff. Also, if anyone does go, if you're getting a burger, go 12oz
First the positives - the lady who greeted us on the door was friendly and helpful as was our sever Jenny who took our order for drinks quickly and then came back to take our food order. The place is set out really nicely and it is very clean, staff were great with the kids and happy to help with things we requested. So why only 3 stars and not 4 or 5? The main courses took nearly an hour after our starter was served to be brought out which with 2 kids who had not ordered starters was too long for them to wait maybe ask if the kids meals could come out with the starters? . There was no explanation for the long wait until about 5 minutes before food was brought over we were told it would be there soon and the staff member apologised for the wait. When the food did arrive it was nice and the portions were large. A family friendly restaurant with a nice children's menu could do with some crayons or pens at the table. We brought our own but don't always. I would go again probably with friends or my husband not sure I'd take the children back tho which is a shame cos they did really like it but just for a bit bored after the long wait.
Me and my other half decided to visit the restaurant because we had heard that it had been taken over by a new owner. When we arrived we received a very warm welcome and were seated straight away. The menu was perfect, a good selection of meals but not too much, we definitely weren't stuck for choice! I ordered nacho's to start and a burger for my main and my other half ordered the chicken caeser salad to start and a steak for main. We weren't waiting a long time for our food arrive or to be served. My nacho's were really nice and fresh and my burger was lovely I loved the onion rings that it came with. My partners chicken ceaser salad was to die for and his steak was cooked to perfection! The portions sizes were perfect, I would have loved to try one of the desserts they had to offer but I couldn't make room for one! The service was also brilliant, the waitress was very friendly and the manager was very helpful. We are definitely going to be coming back for Valentines day as we have been told there is going to be a singer on. When we came to pay our bill the bill was very reasonable for what we had as the food was such good quality. If you are reading this I would definitely recommend going to visit Hudson Smokehouse and try it for yourself, I'm sure you will have a good experience like we did!
Absolutely fantastic food, and incredible atmosphere.
Very average food. Over priced especially the drinks. £4-40 for a coke. Cesar salad was missing the parmeson cheese and no refund was offered. Very long wait for the food considering it was a quiet time of the day. Would not recommend this place to anyone and definitely won't visit again.
previous owner ran it terribly. been bought by a new owner, ignore the message when you call the place, it is very much open and is just silly games from the last guy
Any review of more than one star must be a family member of the owner. If you want good food of this type, take a trip to Red's in Liverpool, it knocks spots off this place. Will never go here again.
