I have had a lovely stay at the hub. The staff go beyond for you and yeah there is a problem with the fire alarms but its students smoking in the rooms as I had a roommate who would constantly smoke and set off the alarms and the staff done everything they could. It's a student accommodation so you can expect it tho along with noise and drunk students but staff are very helpful and will do all they can to make sure you are happy
Good location, but the fire alarms go off about 5 times a week and no one comes to turn it off. It’s nice to know if there is a dangerous fire, no one is coming to help. Carpets are pretty nasty but it’s nice each room has a bathroom.
Pros: - Location centre of town - Decent wifi speed 20+ MB/s - Friendly reception & security staff - Nearby Tesco & Co-op - Nightclubs & gym are very close Cons: - Really expensive - Flat wasn’t clean on arrival - Basic items missing from kitchen - Flat condition was poor/average at best - Daily fire alarms & fire brigade - No staff/security after 4pm - Rats - More rats - Missing parcels - Cloudy lukewarm water - Main entrance closed for months - Poor recycling options only glass bins - Extremely rude/hypocritical management - Damp windows - Laundry room is expensive - Key fobs have frequent issues - Vending machines rarely work Please find somewhere else to spend your money, this place really isn’t worth it. As my second time living in halls I can easily say this is my worst experience by far. And if you do stay here, don’t waste even more of your money paying £60/month to park inside the courtyard, just pay the council £110 per year to park on the street around the corner.
A big shout out to the management who agreed to let us hold our first society's social event at the common room, the event went well. Thank you to the friendly and helpful staffs who helped me through the application for room booking.
If you enjoy random fire alarms, sounds of drunk people yelling, music from the club next door and mediocre furnishing this is the place for you. I got placed in this building door through overflow from university housing and it is awful. The mattresses are old and you can feel every spring and the couches and kitchen chairs are so uncomfortable it is impossible to sit in them. Honestly find somewhere else to live. This place is horrible and not worth the money.
My son is staying here for university and he likes it a lot. 4 Ensuite rooms with a shared living room with sofas and kitchen which has fridges and freezers included. Secure entry and night security with cctv so we feel reassured that he is safe. I thought the furniture was grubby and very dated but its not me staying there.
Everything's breaking down. Already had the hob replaced this year and now the freezer, oven, and boiler are all either dead or dying. Fire alarms are non-stop in C Block. Mainly down to the other residents, more of the fire alarms are set off between midnight and 2am, leading to standing around outside for upwards of half an hour as one of the staff members to get out of their bed and drive down to the accommodation to turn the alarms off. Rooms are incredibly hot, even in winter, leading to multiple fans pointed at myself and the window open just so I can sleep at night. Overall not a very good experience for me personally, hoping I can find people to flat share with next year in time so I don't have to return for another year.
We had a great time at the Welcome Party. Lovely residents and lovely Olivia x
Great and spacious En-Suite rooms. The showers in the rooms were particularly good in my personal experience. The kitchen and shared areas have fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a large open breakfast bar/lounge area with a TV. These areas are bright and airy, though the sofas, when I was there, were a flimsy wooden frame with some cushions. Though I believe they've improved that now. The staff are greatly helpful and courteous, though the office opening times can be a little restricted at times. The main downside to the place, overall, was that the rooms get very warm in any non-winter season. And when they do, then you can't get much airflow due to the windows being limited to opening only barely a few inches. though some people remove the catches, doing so incurs a mid-sized cost addition to your tenancy there.
The fire alarm starts to ring at 2 am Night time. It going since more than 40 minutes. No one comes to fix this. It keeps on ringing. Moving out as soon as the lease expires.
