Well. I expected more to be honest! Everything is beautifully presented and clean, a vast variety of models etc, you can see it's new. But. So small! I hope it will grow in offer as you will spent there 15 mins....and we drove 1h for this to visit. One train on train tracks was just on display which is a shame as it had a wonderful journey laid out. Scaletrix was okish, again, expected more for a centre like this. To be fair, their shop is as big as the part where you got to experience stuff so.... Make sure you have plan B to go to on a day out. £10 for two adults. Queue for tickets as "we have only one till working today" - really? On the weekend? And I had to queue 10mins because a couple in front of me bought 15 models and had a question about each?.
If you had Scalextric as a kid and you're in the area come to WonderWorks and get transported back to your childhood, thoroughly enjoyed walking around lookng at all the sets as well as the Hornby railway sets and TV/Movie models. Also saw the motorbike from the lastest James Bond movie, so cool!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
We went here today to see Santa. I highly recommend this experience, the elves are so helpful and lovely, the children get to make some reindeer food, take an Elfie, write a letter to Santa as well as post it, then they get to walk through a lovely grotto to Santa. Santa was fun, very child friendly and put my anxious child at ease, he kept my child focused with a little bit of magic and letting him sit in the throne. Best experience in a long time. The gift was lovely as well. We will definitely visit again. Xxxx well done Hornby hobbies x
This is a most delightful museum off the beaten track and down the memory lane. An impressively vast collection of train models complete with farm houses, cows and sheep. Hands on experience for children and adults too. Highly recommended!
Although having visited the site shop previously - including the recent revamp and creation of the WonderWorks - this is the first time I've ever visited the displays of Hornby products since they were founded. In addition to the various Hornby products on display in the WonderWorks are those from other Hornby brands such as Corgi, Airfix and Scalextic There is also interactive displays of model railways in OO Gauge and TT:120 Gauge and race tracks Scalextric that visitors can control. There are also a few full size vehicles in the display and shop to see such as an army scout car, Only Fools and Horses Reliant Regal van, and some motorbikes one of which was from the James Bond film, No Time To Die Although a more modern and spacious exhibit, the price of £5 per adult is a bit much given the time spent in the display will not be very long when not busy. There are some concessions, whilst Hornby Collector Club Members get free access. The attached shop though is much improved and larger, with more on display. There is also a café to get food, snacks and drinks. Overall, if visiting the shop, then visiting the WonderWorks is worth it, though I'd suggest Hornby give an entrance discount if something is purchased in the shop. To visit though with the express wish to see the WonderWorks itself, then it could be expensive for a family for spending the short time it would take to see everything in the exhibit.
Enjoyed a visit to Wonderworks by Hornby. Lovely displays to look at and a very well stocked shop. Nice cafe too .Visited onWeekend
The Hornby Shop / Museum. They’ve done well in a fairly limited space. The museum is reasonably priced £5 adult, March ‘24, and split into sections for Airfix, Hornby etc. There’s some dioramas and models at child/ adult height. Those that are higher have steps so little ones can see. The information boards explain the process behind model design. Staff are helpful and there’s some “play” areas where you can race model cars. However, there’s limited space. The model train sets were good but lacked some of the detail that can done in hobby sets; I spotted a farmer rounding up their cows - and that seemed to be it. There were also two or three “sets”, it seemed to lack a certain flair. Conversely, the WWII Airfix diorama really impressed. But it was the only one. Cafe was good. Three and a half stars, rounded up to four!
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed looking at all the displays. The interactive areas were fun and looking at all the small details on the train scenes. Even though we are adults, we enjoyed doing the quiz as well. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the refreshments we had in the café. We look forward to visiting again and bringing family with us.
A fun, inexpensive day out. The museum isn’t vast but you can play with trains and scalextric for hours. The cafe is well-priced and has a broad menu for a museum cafe. The staff were friendly. The Hornby shop had 15% off over the bank holiday weekend. A pleasant way to spend a rainy day with a five year old in tow.
Came here before the revamp and there's no doubt it's better now. The exhibition is interesting but not sure young children find it all that. Shop is great, well stocked and spacious. Cafe is really good, excellent sandwiches.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
